Ajarakan has a wide variety of attacks that players must learn and memorize if they hope to defeat the Fanged Beast. Ground Punch
The Ajarakan will punch the ground twice with each of its fists. Dodging this attack is fairly easy, or you cancounter it with a guard or parry. The monster can also punch only once. When ignited, the attack creates lava explosions where the punches land.
Side Swipe
The Ajarakan swings its claws sideways to damage the hunter if they’re standing on its side. When ignited, this attack also hurls up a wall of lava. Dodge backwards to avoid getting it.
Shoulder Slam
The monster rises up with one shoulder and slams it down quickly. From the ground, it bashes forward with the shoulder and charges upward. When in its Ignited Phase, Ajarakan also creates a flaming pool in front of it as the charge ends. This attack can be guarded, but it’s safer to dodge sideways to prevent unnecessary damage.
Rock Toss
The Ajarakan digs into the ground with its claws and throws two flaming boulders toward the hunter, one after another. The projectiles have poor tracking, and you should be able to dodge them easily. During its ignited phase, the Ajarakan hurls lava instead.
Tail Slam
The Ajarakan can also attack with its tail, slamming it down on the hunter if you stand near its back. Dodge sideways to avoid it, or counter it ifyou’re using the Switch Axe. Cutting off its tail gets rid of this attack.
Ground Slam
The Ajarakan rises up and slams both of its fists down on the ground, causing huge AOE damage. You’ll have to act quickly and either get to the monster’s back or out of range to avoid taking damage.
Lava Charge-Up
During the battle, the Ajarakan will dig its claws into the ground and start heating up. This is when it enters its Ignited Phase, empowering its attacks. You can keep attacking during the transformation to try and create wounds on its weak parts.
Lava Slam
During its Ignited Phase, the Ajarakan slams its claws down, creating a massive explosion of lava in front of it. When going for this attack, the monster will pound its back with its tail twice and start glowing brighter. you’re able to get behind the beast to attack safely without worrying about getting hit.
Ground Roll & Slam
Another move that happens during its Ignited Phase. The Ajarakan pounds the ground and starts violently rolling on the spot. Afterward, it jumps up and slams down. Back away to safety to avoid getting hit. This move gives you a big opening to deal damage since the monster takes a while to recover afterward.
Dive Attack
In certain environments, the Ajarakan can jump up and hang from the ceiling. It can also move while hanging. After a while, the monster dives toward the ground, causing AOE damage. Whenever you see the Ajarakan jump up, prepare to dodge.
Grab Attack
The monster grabs the player and roars at them. Afterward, it slams the hunter onto the ground, dealing massive damage. You’ll have to dodge away from the monster to avoid getting grabbed.
Ajarakan Weaknesses in Monster Hunter Wilds
Despite its intimidating design, Ajarakan isn’t the most difficult encounter inMonster Hunter Wilds. The Fanged Beast is weak to bothSever and Blunt type damageand has a lot of weak points that you’re able to exploit to make the fight easier.
Its head is its primary weak point, allowing you to inflict big damage numbers if you manage to land solid hits. The Left and Right Foreleg, Tail, and Tail Tip are also solid weak points that you may exploit to make the fight easier. As such, you’ll want to keep your distance and only go in when you see an opening for attacks.
You’ll mostly want to stick to its sides, focusing on its front section to deal the most damage. With enough damage, you’ll create wounds that you canFocus Attack to break partsand deal massive damage. If youmanage to mount the monster, focus on the tail and try to sever it to make the battle easier.
When the monster is Ignited, you’ll want to be extra careful not to get caught in its attacks. Since most of its attacks will inflict additional Fire damage, try not to get hit. After a while, the monster will revert to its original state, and you canstart playing more aggressively.
