Alan Ritchson Wasn’t Thrilled With The Action Sequences In Reacher Season 2 And This Is Surprising
TheReacherpromotional tour was in full swing in the lead up to the release of the third season last week. Alan Ritchson was interviewed byThe Movie Podcast, and he raised a few eyebrows with his comments about the sophomore season of the hit Amazon action series:
I watch the show like everybody else, but there’s a limit to what I can control. I’m not in post. I’m off working on other stuff, and i know what we shot on the day but the way that can execute in post. Sometimes I see things I love, and sometimes I see things that audiences will probably agree could be better. I see all those things. Season two, I wasn’t really thrilled with a lot of the action at all. I was really upset with how some of those fights were executed. We didn’t do a good job on the day. We weren’t using the right tools. It wasn’t cut very well. I sat everyone down, the creative team, and said ‘We have to do better.’

Being number one on the call sheet of one of Prime Video’s biggest shows is huge pressure, and Alan Ritchson won’t rest on his laurels. While his controversial comments aboutReacherseason 2 could be taken as an insult to the creative team behind the show. However, it was probably a motivator to make sureReacherseason 3was even better. In the same interview with The Movie Podcast, Ritchson added:
All I can think about is how do we exceed the audience’s expectations? I pour blood, sweat and tears into this show, and hope for the best. I want people to have an experience that they remember. Season 3, we’ve sent it dude. We left it all on the table. I walked away from that season thinking this was the most physically demanding. This will be the hardest project I’ve ever done.
The next job will be making sureReacherseason 4 lives up to the expectations of the current season. Based on the first three episodes, Ritchson and co have set very high standards yet again. There is a lot more to come with the promise ofan epic battle with season 3 villain, Paulie, and apotential love interestin the form of DEA Agent, Susan Duffy. There is also the promise ofNeagley’s spin-offbeing set up, while the pair prepare to bring down drug trafficker,Zachary Beck.
