Uuvana Studios announcedLongvinter’s release out of Early Access onSteam, confirming all the new features that have arrived as part of the massive 1.0 update. Among the changes are the addition of Oil Rigs, new locations which the developer describes as “super fun for both PVP and PVE players.” There’s a full new set of winter clothing, as well as tons of new animals and mounts in the form of Lynxes, Wolves, Wolverines, Foxes, Moose, and Goats. Impressively, that doesn’t even begin to cover all thenew content added to this survival game.

Longvinter Releases Out of Early Access After Three Years

There are also wildlife improvements, a bunch of new equipment and items, a new placeable health system, weapon balance changes, more placeable items, and many general changes to top it all off. At the moment, the game currently holds “Mostly Positive” reviews on Steam, with many using the term “Animal Crossingwith guns.” Looking at its adorable aesthetic, it’s hard not to draw a comparison betweenLongvinterand Nintendo’s long-running simulation series. Others have even compared it toRust, putting it in good company alongside thebest survival games.

Hopefully, withLongvinterreaching 1.0, developer Uuvana Studios won’t take its foot off the gas and will continue to improve the game. It has tons of potential, and alongside its release announcement, it was confirmed that it’scoming to PlayStation in 2026. This gives the studio a chance to polish the game even further over the next year, and really make a splash when it arrives on PlayStation.
