Summary

Marvel Cinematic Universefans have recently been allowed to see what Anthony Mackie can offer the franchise on the big screen viaCaptain America: Brave New World. He was able to interact with several new characters in the MCU alongside some old faces, which gave people a clear idea of what his version of the iconic Avenger will provide moving forward. It’s obvious he’s going to continue wearing the shield in an important manner, and that should lead to some bigger opportunities within the MCU.

The franchise has always been built on characters interacting with each other, which is how Mackie entered the MCU in the first place as Steve Rogers' right-hand man. He became The Falcon, and now he’s stepped up even further, and people want to see more from him. While it’s expected that he will beinvolved inAvengers: Doomsday, there are some other characters that Mackie would like his version of Captain America to encounter down the line.

Thunderbolts*is one of the upcoming major MCU projectsthat will see an unconventional group of superheroes be brought together to form a brand new team to try and fight evil, and that’s something Mackie is interested in. He toldRotten Tomatoes, “All of my friends are in there. Just the idea of me and all those dudes together would be a train wreck of epic proportions, so I would for that to happen.” Whether it will or not remains to be seen, but it’s undoubtedly something Mackie is open to happening.

Mackie’s character, Sam Wilson, has a unique on-screen relationship withThunderboltsmember Bucky Barnes. They have a love-hate connection that has seen a lot of hilarious moments take place throughout the history of the MCU, with the two even having their own Disney Plus series together. The Falcon and the Winter Soldierproved to be a hit with fans as the chemistry between them was fantastic, and seeing that be explored further in future movies would be a lot of fun. Fans got to see them back together briefly inCaptain America: Brave New World, but that wasn’t theThunderboltsversion of Barnes that audiences really want to witness.

The reason people are so excited aboutThunderboltsis the fact that they’re such a unique bunch of characters who don’t care to play by the rules like most traditional heroes. That is why seeing them interact with Captain America could be so much fun, because even though Mackie’s version isn’t quiteas clean-cut as Chris Evans', he still likes to play by the rules in a manner thatThunderboltssimply will not. Throwing those worlds together in a future film or television series could, therefore, open up a whole world of chaos.

Whether Captain America will ever interact with theThunderbolts*crew remains to be seen, but there would certainly be some unique storyline possibilities to explore with that partnership. There are certain characters that Captain America hasn’t interacted with before, but his connection to Winter Soldier would be an easy route to make that happen.Whether it’s inAvengers: Doomsdayor a different project, there are many opportunities for this to happen within theMCU.
