Arcane, an animated series inspired byLeague of Legends, was a massive hit when it hit Netflix. Many loved its narrative, visuals and characters. Although it ended after two seasons, it appeared that fans were still not over the series. In fact, there were a lot of artworks featuring one of its lead characters.
Layla Viscu, a 3D character artist, shared her artwork featuringArcane’s Jinx recreated asDisney’s Rapunzelusing ZBrush and Maya. The artwork hasJinx’s face and hair, but the artist swapped her bright, electric blue hair with Rapunzel’s golden locks. She also mixed Rapunzel and Jinx’s styles to give the latter a brand new costume. The recreated Jinx rocked a sexier version of Rapunzel’s costume — it still features a fitted corset-style bodice with a subtle sweetheart shape neckline and short puffed sleeves, but it exposes Jinx’s midsection. Additionally, Viscu swapped Rapunzel’s full and flowing skirt with striped capri pants. She called the artwork a “Jinx-punzel” project and briefly shared how she came up with it. “The idea of the Jinx-punzel project came to me after reading the brief for the Arcane art challenge organized by ZugZug studio on their Discord page,” Viscu wrote. “Participants were tasked with reimagining existing or new characters, props, and environments from the Runeterra universe while maintaining a coherent Arcane style and turning them into game-ready models.”
It turned out that many fans have been comparing Jinx to Rapunzel. There are several posts on social media highlighting Jinx as the Disney princess with incredibly long hair. One fan art showcased Jinx’s long blue hair and dressed her with Rapunzel’s costume. However, she wears a boot on one foot and a magenta heel on the other. “Prepare your eyes, the saturation is high I’m making some champions dressed as Disney characters, the first one is Jinx as Rapunzel. It’s a color study, I’m scared of how they found the idea already in the WIP pkspks You guys are awesome,” thecaption read. Several artworks featured the same concept, showing that many find Jinx comparable to Rapunzel.
Jinx and Rapunzel are opposites at first glance, but they also have similarities if one looks at the two characters closely. The pair have signature long hair. Both also braid their hair. Jinx has loose strands and messy braided hair, while Rapunzel’s braid is loose and designed with flowers. They also have slender bodies and large and expressive eyes, which help them convey their emotions. However, there’s a striking difference when it comes to their hair color — Rapunzel’s golden locks are soft, magical, warm and pastel, while Jinx’s are dark and punk. As for their personality, both are naive, sheltered and emotional. They were also subjected to trauma, Jinx by Silco and Rapunzel by Mother Gothel. When it comes to looks and their backstories, the pair are comparable. However, Rapunzel chooses to find strength in love and kindness, whileJinx embraces her dark sideand spirals into chaos and violence.
