How to Get the Death Knight Gloves in Avowed
The only way to get your hands on the Death Knight Gloves is todefeat Captain Aelfyr and her Steel GarrotesinAvowed. She is tied to the main storyline, making the unique gauntlets unmissable. However, if you have astrong build with enough damage, you’re able to grab the gloves pretty early in your progression. Otherwise, you will have to wait a while.
Your first opportunity to encounter Captain Aelfyr comes in Emerald Stair, where the fight is entirely optional. The second encounter, however, takes place later in Galawain’s Tusks and is a mandatory boss fight. Below are the locations of both encounters, leaving it up to you to decide when to obtain the Death Knight Gauntlets inAvowed.
First Encounter
Captain Aelfyr can be found guarding theShatterscarp Gatehouse, north of the Sunken Village in Emerald Stair. You will encounter her as part of the main quest,A Path to the Garden, when you are done with Emerald Stair and ready to travel to the next region, Shatterscarp.
Captain Aelfyr will confront you as you approach the Shatterscarp Gatehouse. If you choose all the friendly dialogue options, she will allow you to pass without conflict. However, you can alsochoose to attack and kill her to get the Death Knight Gloves earlyinAvowed.
Emerald Stair contains several unique weaponsthat can help you overcome a noticeable difficulty spike in Shatterscarp. So, make sure to prepare as much as you can before entering the new region.
Second Encounter
The next time you encounter Captain Aelfyr will be during theOur Dreams Divide Us Stillmain quest, which marks one of thepoints of no return inAvowed. If you spare her in Emerald Stair, she will stand in your way again at the entrance of Mt. Forja Quarry in Galawain’s Tusks.
This time, however, she will be a mandatory boss fight. Captain Aelfyr will be infected, and regardless of what dialogue options you choose, she will not allow you to pass without a fight.Kill her and loot her corpse to claim the Death Knight Glovesfor yourself.
