While most critics praised Obsidian’s latest game for its story, lore, gameplay, and exploration, one of the most criticized aspects of the experience was the presence of numerous bugs in the RPG. Fortunately, Obsidian seems to be working hard to address these problems.
Now, Obsidian has released Update 1.2.3 forAvowed, which fixes various glitches, including some major problems that broke questlines and prevented players from finishing quests, such as “A Path to the Garden” and “Message from Afar.” The patch also has some gameplay and balance changes, such as increasing both the damage reduction and the cooldown of the Arcane Veil and improving AI behavior to make the companions more reliable during battles. Poor AI behavior for companions was a major complaint manyAvowedplayers had, so it’s good to see it being corrected so swiftly. Also, the update provides numerous audio improvements forAvowed, correcting multiple instances where the audio was not working as expected by the devs.
This new update comes on the heels of therecent Day One patch forAvowed. The previous update was a hefty patch that addressed player feedback from the early access phase and fixed many bugs, improving how equipment tiers work and much more.
Fortunately, despite all the bugs it had at launch,Avowedstill managed to have a successful launch. Soon after it was released,Avowedalready became a big hit on Steam, being featured as the top seller on Steam’s US chart, for example. That’s a considerable feat, especially considering thatAvowedcan be played using an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate or PC Game Pass subscription, but gamers had to pay $70 to get it on Steam.
Despite correcting these issues, it does not seem very likely thatAvowedwill get many new features via free updates. Earlier this month, Obsidian confirmed thatAvoweddid not have a New Game Plusand that the team did not intend to implement the feature moving forward. However, Obsidian indicated that there’s a possibility of paid DLC coming toAvowedsometime in the future, depending on the game’s popularity.
