Tragedy strikes Emerald Stair as Steel Garrote makes its move and burns down Fior Mes Iverno inAvowed. After players arrive at the burned settlement searching for survivors, they’ll meet a grieving NPC named Vemas Rogera. He’ll share his tragic tale about how the Captain of Steel Garrote struck down his nephew and looted his ring. The ring was a family heirloom, and players must retrieve it and eliminate the captain to avenge Vemas' nephew in the Debt of Blood quest.
How to Start Debt of Blood Quest in Avowed
The Debt of Blood quest is onlyavailable when Fior Mes Iverno burns downafter completing theAncient Soil quest inAvowed. Players can find Vemas Rogera in the Abandoned Farms location north of Fior Mes Iverno.
After talking to Vemas, the Debt of Blood quest will start, and players will need to head toRanger Headquartersto confront Steel Garrote’s Captain.
Should You Kill Captain Carnet or Resolve the Matter Peacefully?
Once you arrive at the Ranger Headquarters, head inside and talk toCaptain Carnet near the bonfire. She’ll flaunt her victory as the siege on Fior was successful. Players must confront her about the ring she took off a dead sentry. She’d respond that it was a trophy that she took to prove her honor as per tradition.
As the conversation goes, there are effectivelytwo choicesplayers can make here. You can either attack Captain Carnet and take the ring forcefully or peacefully talk her down and get the ring back without bloodshed. The latter is a better option asyou’ll also get a unique weapon,Carnet’s Cutlass.
So, choosing to attack her will start a tough boss fight against Captain Carnet and other Steel Garrote soldiers. The fight is tough as battlemage shield the Captain with their magic. It’s best totarget the battlemage and sorcerersthat surround the captain first to weaken her defenses. Once the mage and sorcerers are down, proceed to attack Captain Carnet.
Once Captain Carnet is down, take theRogera Family Ringand the unique Cutlass from her body.
Returning the Rogera Family Ring to Vemas
Return to Vemas and report the quest to him. If you manage to take down Captain Carnet and get the ring back,he’ll reward you with some coins. However, if you return without killing Captain Carnet, even if you manage to get the ring back, he still won’t be satisfied and won’t reward players anything.
Regardless of your choice, this will mark the Debt of Blood side quest inAvowedas complete.
