If players look for them, they can find a lot of killer weapons in the early hours ofAvowed. They come in all shapes and sizes and most don’t require players to hit any sort of stat benchmarks. That can be one of the more irritating parts ofan RPG, finding amazing lootthat cannot be equipped because of stat or level requirements.
That’s not the case inAvowedwith a small caveat in the following examples. Most of the better weapons are tied to side quests but then there are others just lying around in wait. Let’s go over where players can find these mythical marvels.
7Caeroc’s Pride (Handgun)
Catching Lightning In A Pistol
The Caeroc’s Pride is a pistol imbued with lightning-based elemental magic. This can be used to shock gates open with devices or when used in water, anyone who steps into the affected water will get electrocuted. Pistols and muskets in this game typically have to be reloaded after every shot so players shouldn’t jump into Avowed and try to play it likean RPG shooterakin toDestiny. Players need to find and defeat the bounty for Tempestuous Luandi who resides East of Paradis in the Ondra’s Reach, and they just need to loot his carcass after.
6Drawn In Winter (Hand Axe)
Ice, Ice, Skeleton Baby
Drawn in Winter is a one-handed axe that is imbued with ice magic players can get early inAvowed. It can freeze enemies upon repeated hits or it can even freeze small surfaces of water. Players need to march to the far east side of the map to Watcher’s Mirror.
They need to watch the Ancient Memory, answer a few questions, and then a pillar will rise out of the nearby lake with the axe stuck inside. After grabbing the axe, skeletons will come out but players can relax. They’re pretty easy and there is no Bone Mama to worry about.
5Last Light Of Day (Sword)
Burning The Heavens
Avowedplayers can get Last Light of Dayearly and it’s a one-handed sword with the power of fire dwelling inside of it. It can be used to burn victims or burn through obstacles like spiderwebs. It’s a good sword to use with a shield, a typical combo in an RPG. Players have to first go to the northern area labeled as Pilgrim’s Path wherein they can take on the Dawntreader side quest. It’s a long quest filled with rewards but to skip ahead, this will bring players into the Temple of Eothas and if they choose to fight a man named Sargamis, he will drop the sword.
4Magical Grimoires
An Easy Cheat In Wizardry
There are a few skill trees in the game and going down a particular route will decide the Envoy’s class. Spells are quite powerful and useful for exploration in the game but players can still use magic thanks to weaponized books called Grimoires. There are two rare ones worth mentioning but they both require some points put into the Wizard skill tree to unlock Mastery levels. Anextli’s Grimoire can be found around Ivona’s Threshold from a downed NPC and Beothel’s Grimoire can be purchased from a shopkeeper named Merylin in Paradis. Better yet, the Common Grimoire of Elements is quite literally a common Grimoire and it doesn’t require any Masteries. It can be purchased in most weapon shops or found in the Ruinous Cavern on the West side of Paradis, outside of the gates. Players can fight another bounty inAvowedhere: Nacib.
3The Philosopher’s Riddle (Greatsword)
Swinging Into Poison
The Philosopher’s Riddle is not tied to a side quest in the slightest. It’s just laying against some rocks if players head to the east side of the map and climb some ruins in Castol’s Folly. The Philosopher’s Riddle is a two-handed Greatsword that is imbued with poison. Anyone who hasplayed an RPGshould know that poison will continuously damage an enemy. It’s an effective weapon against bosses who have high HP but the weapon can be a bit slower to wield than most.
2Seven Strivings (Greataxe)
Building Momentum
The Seven Strivings is a two-handed axe although it looks more like a racket similar to the weapons Garnet can equip inFinal Fantasy 9. Technically it’s tied to a side quest although it’s just lying around nearby the area.
North of the map players can find The Falls and it’s here that they can fight the bounty known as Ralga. It’s a tough fight because Ralga is massive but if players have The Philosopher’s Riddle already then it will be easier. Once Ralga and his minions are down, players can find the Seven Strivings amongst some dead bodies. It will increase the player’s speed upon kills and also boost critical attack damage.
1Sheathed In Summer (Dagger)
Another Fiery Blade
The last rare weapon worth mentioning in the first few hours of the game is called Sheathed in Summer. It’s another bounty side quest inAvowed, this one focusing on a dwarf named Octav The Firebrand. He’s located north in the Godless Ruins and players just need to loot his corpse to get the dagger after. Like the Last Light of Day, Sheathed in Summer is imbued with fire magic. Daggers typically don’t have a good reach but they are fast to jab into an enemy, so this could be a good pairing with a Grimoire as players need to wait for cooldowns after casting spells.
