Summary
Based on the books by Lee Child,Reacheris an original investigative thriller series for Amazon’s Prime Video following the exploits of Jack Reacher as played by Alan Ritchson. He is an ex-military police officer who lives a nomadic lifestyle, solving mysterious cases wherever he goes, which can often lead to memorable fight scenes.
As the third season begins, there are many exciting fight scenes to enjoy in the first and second seasons for anyone needing a refresher on Reacher’s best moments. These scenes vary from straightforward brawls between him and one or more villains to displays of the tactical and lethal skills the titular hero possesses when the situation demands it.
7The Carjacker Fight
Reacher Saves A Child Like A Superhero
The term “fight” might be considered a tad loose for the opening of Reacher Season 2 as it’s a very one-sided beatdown by Reacher. When he goes to an ATM, he quickly deduces that the woman in front of him has been carjacked, and, being the heroic character he is, he gets involved.
Reacher taking out the carjacker is simple but satisfying to witness as Reacher uses his shirt to punch the jacker right through the window. From there, Reacher breaks multiple bones and pummels the man before dragging him out of the car. It’s a perfect reintroduction to Reacher that almost feels likethe opening to a Batman storywhere he saves a person from a mugger.
6The Restaurant Fight
Even A Tablecloth Is A Weapon For Reacher
It’s easy to set Reacher off despite his seemingly calm and collected exterior and an example of that is when he confronts KJ and his friends in a restaurant in Season 1. It’s mainly just satisfying to see the hero deliver some much-deserved punishment to evil characters, but it’s also a good example of how Reacher uses more than his fists.
From the dining table to the chairs, the fight showcases how Reacher can turn anything into a weapon in his surroundings, similar to what is seen inJackie Chan’s style of fighting. Reacher doesn’t care about showing off, so his fighting style mainly consists of heavy blows that show just how much of a tank he can be.
5The Construction Site Fight
Reacher And Dixon Control The Fight
An investigation in Atlantic City results in Reacher and Dixon having to fight mercenaries at a construction site. While Dixon’s style utilizesher agility and martial artsto overcome her opponents, Reacher continues to use his brute strength combined with the environment for insanely brutal attacks.
Reacher picks up and swings cinder blocks like they’re toys to him, making for a memorable battle as the two characters utilize their strengths. It’s not often that a hero drowns a thug in wet cement, which just shows how Reacher is far from afraid to play dirty in a fight.
4The Hospital Fight
Neagley Shines As Reacher’s Partner
If anybody is on Reacher’s side to the end, it’s Neagley, who is always there to give him information or backup in a fight. This is what leads to them proving to be a dynamic duo in a hospital where they are attacked by mercenaries and thus, a battle commences in which both parties utilize the various tools found in an operating room to wound each other.
Neagley stands out on her own as a highly effective fighter, reminiscent ofcharacters from aJohn Wickmovie. However, when she collaborates with Reacher to take down an assassin, it leads to one of the more gruesome deaths in the series. It’s another example of how location is important to fight scenes, because it can make all the difference in terms of visuals and weaponry.
3The Prison Bathroom Fight
They Quickly Learn That Reacher Is Not Locked In With Them
What makes Reacher so unique compared to a lot of action heroes is that he doesn’t rely on fancy moves to win, as shown in theprison bathroombrawl in Season 1. He knows how to fight, but the man is a walking mountain, and he knows it, so when he gets into a fight, he uses his strength and the environment to tackle, kick, and slam his opponents around.
Between crushing one man’s skull with a metal sink and breaking legs with simple kicks, the prison fight is a brutal one that shows that when Reacher gets going, it is nearly impossible to stop him. Even when he doesrely on hand-to-hand combat, it’s mainly heavy blows with his elbows, powerful slaps, and fighting dirty by going right for weak spots to take down his enemies hard.
2The Helicopter Fight
Reacher Dispatches Poetic Justice On The Main Villain
The final episode of Season 2 sees Reacher and his whole team finallygetting their much-deserved revenge; Robert Patrick’s Shane Langston had murdered Reacher’s friends by dropping them from ahelicopter. He is about to do the same to Karla Dixon and David O’Donnell when Reacher saves them and then subjects Shane to the very fate he had given his victims.
It’s a tense fight due to the tight and enclosed space inside the helicopter, but Reacher and Dixon prove to be ideal partners as they fend off Shane and his goons. Combined with the poetic justice that is given to the main villain, the fight proved to be more imaginative and intense than the climactic battle of the first season, ending the second on a high note, literally and figuratively.
1The Hubble House Fight
Reacher At His Most Violent And Brutal
In the end, Reacher is an ex-military operative and that is best shown when he locks in and lays a trap for assassins in theHubble housein Season 1. Reacher turns the family home into his private fortress as he takes on multiple assassins decorated in camouflage, utilizing the shadows and the enemies’ over-confidence against them with stealth tactics straightout of aMetal Gear Solidgame.
The fight in the Hubble house is also one of the first times that shows that Reacher is not an indestructible superhero. He takes his fair share of damage, from knife wounds to gnarly crowbar bashes. It gives the battle more stakes and grounds it in a more realistic style, while also providing unique visuals of fighting in the rain, underwater, and the pristine house.
