Season of Witchcraft introduced a number of balance changes to all thecharacter classes inDiabo 4,both in terms of skills and itemization. Most of the fan-favorite builds from the previous seasons have remained unchanged, but some unlikely contenders have risen to the top spot as a result of balancing. Here’s our evaluation of the Season 7Diablo 4class rankings so far.
Season 7 Unique Mechanic
Season of Witchcraft features two mechanics for players to use: Witchcraft Powers and Occult Gems. Both offer powerful passive effects that have synergy with every build in the game, and some of them have the potential to make some truly crazy combos with certain character classes. Here’s what each of these gems and powers do.

Effect
Life Link
Automatically links your life force to up to 3 nearby enemies. When you take damage, linked enemies take damage as well. Cannot link to enemy players.
At Rank 15: For 10 seconds after using a Defensive, Macabre, or Subterfuge skill, any linked damage is guaranteed to Critically Strike.
Firebat Servants
Every 2 seconds, you summon a swarm of deadly Firebats that attack enemies, dealing damage across X total attacks.
At Rank 10: Firebats stun enemies after being hit X number of times.
Abyssal Resonance
After spending 250 Primary Resource, explode and deal X Shadow Damage, gaining stacks Abyssal Resonance for 10 seconds in the process. Each stack increases the size and damage of explosions.
At Rank 10: Every third explosion pulls enemies in.
Wave of Woe
Your Skills launch Wave of Woe when they deal damage, dealing an additional X Shadow Damage then bouncing between Nearby monsters of the same Family.
At Rank 5: Wave of Woe always bounces at least 5 times, dealing increased damage each time.
Shaken Soul
Eldritch effects apply Vulnerable for X seconds.
At Rank 10: Psyche and Growth & Decay skills also apply Vulnerable, but at half the duration.
Hex of Flames
Lucky Hit: You have a chance to apply Hex of Flames, which causes you to deal additional Fire Damage to enemies when you hit them.
At Rank 7: When applied by a crit, Hex of Flames explodes.
Doom Orb
A Doom Orb circles around you, damaging any enemies it touches. It will occasionally launch itself at distant targets.
At Rank 5: Kills or damage against bosses empower the orb by 5%. Once it reaches 100%, it explodes, damaging enemies before reforming 3 seconds later.
Hex of Shattering
Damage done by your Witchcraft effects inflicts Hex of Shattering, reducing the damage dealt by affected enemies.
At Rank 8: Hex effects applied to Headrotten will also cause them to take guaranteed Critical Strikes for a short duration.
Aura of Misfortune
All non-boss enemies near you are slowed.
At Rank 5: Attacks from enemies affected by the aura have a chance to do nothing. Your movement speed is increased.
Aura of Lament
Enemies hit by an attack are inflicted with Aura of Lament, slowing them and all other nearby enemies while giving you 3 Primary Resource per second for each active Aura. When an enemy dies, the Aura transfers to a different enemy while retaining its remaining duration. Only one enemy may be affected at a time, and the effect occurs once every 30 seconds.
At Rank 10: Up to two Auras of Lament can be active.
Twilight Warding
Gain a barrier for 5 seconds that absorbs X amount of damage. This automatically activates every Y seconds. At Rank 12: Twilight Warding reflects enemy projectiles.
Force of Will
After killing an enemy, your next Overpower deal X% more damage, stacking up to 100%. At Rank 4, the bonus extends to your next two Overpowers.
Vengeful Spirit
Every X seconds, a Vengeful Spirit appears and absorbs all damage you would otherwise take. At Rank 5: When the spirit’s health is depleted, it seeks nearby enemies and deals damage.
Poison Frog Servant
Summon a Poison Frog that attacks and Poisons enemies. On death, the frog explodes, dealing instant Poison damage to nearby enemies. This explosion is a guaranteed Critical Strike. At Rank 5: The frog’s attacks pull and taunt enemies.
Soul Harvest
Increase your Primary Core Stat for X seconds for every monster near you when you use a cooldown. At Rank 9, Soul Harvest does not lose duration as long as you are near enemies.
Hex of Whispers
Damaging an enemy inflicts Hex of Whispers, which deals Shadow Damage over time the next time damage is dealt. The hex can jump to another enemy up to 6 times, and it can only be applied once every 5 seconds. At Rank 7: Hex of Whispers bounces back to you after bouncing 6 times, giving you Fortify and cleansing all crowd control effects.
Decay Augmentation
Your Witchcraft effects deal X of the damage dealt over 5 seconds. Damage type is based on your class. At Rank 10: When DoT effects exceed 85% of an enemy’s health, that enemy is executed.
Grow
After casting an Ultimate skill, your Servants, Minions, and Companions are empowered, growing larger and dealing more damage for 15 seconds. At Rank 11: Servants, Minions, and Companions gain 100% crit chance while enlargened.
Aura of Siphoning
Poison all nearby enemies. At Rank 10: Each time the aura deals Poison damage, heal for 1% of your Max Life.
The Cycle
Spawn flowers on Lucky Hit. When you step on them, you heal for a percentage of your Max Life. When enemies step on them, they take Poison damage. At Rank 5: The healing and damage effects affect all allies or enemies when triggered.
Breath of the Coven
Dealing damage or applying crowd control effects with your Witchcraft effects increases your Attack Speed by X%, stacking once per unique Witchcraft category (Psyche, Eldritch, Growth & Decay). At Rank 8, gain bonus Lucky Hit Chance.
Hex Specialization
Hex effects are stronger. At Rank 10: Increase Critical Strike Chance by 10% against Hexed enemies.
Aura Specialization
Auras are X% larger. At Rank 10: Deal 50% increased Critical Strike Damage against enemies in your auras.
Piranhado
When an enemy is Hexed and affected by an Aura, spawn a Piranhado that damages and sucks in enemies. Can occur once every 20 seconds. At Rank 5: Piranhado moves itself towards enemies.
Deal 15% increased Overpower damage to hexed targets.
Vulture Talon
DoT effects tick 50% faster when you have an Aura active.
Summons deal 15% increased damage to Hexed Elites.
Elder Sigil
Agility, Corpse, Incarnate, Weapon Mastery, Mastery, and Wrath skills deal 25% increased direct damage to Hexed enemies.
Cornucopia
Gain x30% more Barrier, Fortify, and Thorns when you have three or more Growth & Decay powers equipped.
Hungering Void
Pull Nearby enemies toward you every 8 seconds while you have an Aura active.
Killing WInd
Gain +15% crit chance and +25% movement speed when you have three or more Eldritch powers equipped.
Unique Witch Powers deal x40% increased damage
Spiral Coin
Gain +20% Lucky Hit Chance and +60% Crowd Control Duration when you have three or more Psyche powers equipped.
Vile Phylactery
While you have a Summon witch power equipped, a Summon is sacrificed if you would take fatal damage. You also gain a Barrier for 100% of your Max Life, and you return to normal after 6 seconds. Can occur only once every 75 seconds.
Dust Stone
Enemies take x2.5% more damage for each of your Hexes and Auraa they are affected by,
Friend of the Bog
Gain x8% more Primary Core Stat, x10% Max Life, and Unhindered when you have three or more Growth & Decay powers equipped.
Mind Wreath
Gain 20% Defensive, Macabre, and Trap cooldown reduction when you have three or more Psyche powers equipped.
Moonlight Ward
For each rank in your equipped Unique Witch Power, gain 3% Damage Reduction and 0.5% Max Resistance to All Elements.
Voice of the Stars
Your Ultimate skills are also treated as Witchcraft powers and deal x10% more damage.
Witching Hour
Every 1 second, the next Core skill you cast is also treated as Eldritch. This requires you to have three or more Eldritch powers equipped.
All Occult Gems also provide 160 Armor and 8% Resistance to All Elements.
