Summary

WithCaptain America: Brave New Worldachieving financial success at the box office, it stands out as one of the few franchises in the Marvel Cinematic Universe that has consistently performed well. This success raises the question of who or what Sam Wilson might have to face ifCaptain America 5is approved by Marvel Studios.

There are not only supervillains from comic books that could be adapted into live-action but also characters from previous Marvel Cinematic Universe movies and Disney+ shows. SinceBrave New Worldresolved some ongoing storylines,Captain America 5could potentially do the same.

7Justin Hammer

With Iron Man Gone, It’s Going To Be War For The Iron Man Suits

SinceCaptain America: Brave New Worldbrought back Samuel Sternsto be the main villain, the same treatment could be given toJustin Hammer. After being ruined by both Tony Stark and Ivan Vanko, it’s not that hard to believe that Justin Hammer would want revenge, and with Tony Stark dead, Iron Man’s technology will be sought after.

There was a time when fans suspected Sam Rockwell would return to the MCU inArmor Wars, but that project appears to have fallen apart before it began. Perhaps aCaptain America 5could see Hammer trying to steal Tony Stark’s technology, which leads to Sam Wilson teaming up with War Machine, Ironheart, or Rescue.

6Sin

Sin is the daughter of the Red Skull in the comics, who would follow in her father’s footsteps in desiring global domination. Sin is the one who arrangedfor Crossbones to kill Steve Rogersin theCivil Warstoryline. The Marvel Cinematic Universe has yet to confirm that Red Skull ever had a daughter, but that also means that nothing says she doesn’t exist.

Even though Hydra was defeated inCaptain America: The Winter SoldierandAvengers: Age Of Ultron, it is unlikely that every single remnant of Hydra has died. Sin could be the perfect way to bring the organization back, while also being the first female villain for a Captain America movie. Since Sam Wilson is the next-generation Captain America, Sin could do the same for Red Skull.

5Vermin

The Perfect Monster For Keeping Captain America Busy

A recurring trend in Captain America movies is that there is usually one secondary villain who works for the main villain.Verminwould be perfect for that, especially since it’s never shown how many experiments Arnim Zola worked onduring and after World War 2for Hydra. It’s not outlandish to think that monsters like Vermin were created for nefarious purposes.

In the comics, Vermin is a rat-like monster and is equally creepy as he is tragic. He was a man who grew up being sexually abused by his father, leading to him being homeless. Arnim Zola abducted him and turned him into a Hydra science project, which could be a way for Sam Wilson to appeal to what’s left of his humanity before or after trying to fight him hand to hand.

4Sidewinder

Giancarlo Esposito Deserves To Be The Main Villain For Captain America

Captain America: Brave New Worldtried to have three different villainsin one movie, one of them beingSidewinder. It was another smooth and show-stealing villain performance for Giancarlo Esposito, but the character was reduced to only ten minutes of screen time at the most, even though he deserved more.

Since Sidewinder did not die and even teased that he would see Captain America again, perhaps this could lead to his return. After all, in the comics, Sidewinder is the leader of a whole snake-themed group of villains called the Serpent Society, and they alone could be the plot of an entire sequel rather than a team of mercenaries that was seen inBrave New World.

3Madame Hydra

Hydra Or Serpent Society Could Rise Again With Her

Thus far in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, audiences have seen all the Hydra regulars from the comics: Red Skull, Crossbones, Arnim Zola, and even Zemo, despite not being Hydra in the movies. However,Madame Hydrahas yet to appear in the MCUaside from a non-canon video game,Captain America: Super Soldier.

If Hydra could create the Winter Soldier post-World War 2, they likely could have indoctrinated someone and groomed them to be the new leader of Hydra as they did in the comics. Also, now that Marvel Studios owns the rights to the character, she could be both Madame Hydra and the Serpent Society member known as Viper, building off multiple Captain America films.

2Power Broker

Fans Want To Know What Sharon Is Up To

Now that the Marvel Cinematic Universe is tying up loose ends, fans were shocked that thePower Broker, Sharon Carter, has yet to reappear. The Falcon And The Winter Soldierrevealed that Sharon now operates asthe ruler of a criminal empirein Madripoor known as the Power Broker, which makes her a morally gray character that makes fans curious about her endgame.

WithCaptain America: Brave New Worldfocusing on a conspiracy happening from the shadows, some theorized that Sharon would be part of it, but that never happened. If Madame Hydra rises, Sharon would be in trouble since, in the comics, she took over Madripoor. This could lead to a war between criminal syndicates with Sam Wilson trying to stop both sides.

1Helmut Zemo

Not Many Villains Get To Come Back More Than Once

After being one of the best Captain America villains and MCU villains,Helmut Zemomade a standout return viaThe Falcon And The Winter Soldier. In that series, the character finally evolved intothe Baron Zemo from the comics, even featuring the purple mask, but he was taken away to Wakanda at the end.

Daniel Brühl has become a beloved part of the MCU as Zemo, and it would be a shame to never see him again. With the Avengers starting to reassemble and the Sokovia Accords beginning to dissolve, the character would want to keep that from happening. Perhaps Zemo will bring together the Masters Of Evil villain team for an ultimate hero vs villain ensemble film.
