Huge sales numbers and industry accolades continue to pour in for Game Science’s triple-A release, withBlack Myth: Wukongrecently surpassing 25 million copies soldglobally. 20 million of those copies were sold in the game’s first month of release, and the title still holds the distinction of being the most-played single-player game in Steam history, boasting over 2.2 million concurrent users on its release day. Just over six months later, some new numbers have been announced, with players now able to see howBlack Myth: Wukonghas performed both internationally and on Sony’s major system.
According to Game Science co-founder Yang Qi (spotted by80 Level), international sales ofBlack Myth: Wukongaccounted for around 30 percent of total copies sold, or approximately 7.5 million units. Daniel Ahmad, Niko Partner’s Director of Research and Insights, also noted that around 20 percent of copies sold were for the PlayStation 5, equating to around five million units. Earlier this month, it was reported that the success ofBlack Myth: Wukonghas also boosted gaming monitor sales, with Chinese demand particularly high.

Impressive sales aren’t the only thing Game Science has been celebrating.Black Myth: Wukonghas snagged dozens of awards, winning Game of the Year at the Steam Awards 2024 and the 2024 Golden Joystick Awards, as well as Best Action Game and Players' Voice at The Game Awards 2024. The title is also nominated for seven accolades at the Game Developers Choice Awards, scheduled to be held on March 19. These include Game of the Year, Best Design, Best Narrative, and Best Visual Art, among others.
TheFebruary 2025 update forBlack Myth: Wukongfixed a number of issues with the title, including some particularly troublesome PS5-specific bugs and some glitches related to the Gauntlet of Legends mode. The game is expected to get a DLC expansion in 2025, and the long-awaited Xbox port is also slated to be released this year as well. Unfortunately, both are without a release date, with the DLC previously expected to be released sometime around Chinese New Year 2025. As this has proven to be false, only time will tell when players will be able to return to the story of Sun Wukong.
