Three years after a PS1-themed demake ofBloodbornewas released for free, the project’s lead developer stated that a video received a copyright claim.According to IGN, a YouTube video about theBloodbornePS1 demake was copyright claimed by MarkScan Enforcement, a company that Sony has hired to issue copyright claims and DMCA takedowns to protect the company’s properties. The creator of theBloodbornePS1 demake, Lilith Walther, shared the news on social media. Within a day of its release, Walther’s creation wasdownloaded over 100,000 times on Itch.io. At the time of writing, theBloodbornePS1 demake is still available for download on Windows PCs, with version 1.05 being the latest release. However, the copyright claim on theBloodbornePS1 demake video was the second legal issue thatBloodbornefan projects received in early 2025.

On January 31, a fan-made,60 FPS patch forBloodbornereceived a DMCA takedownnearly four years after the project started. AlthoughBloodbornecan be played on PS5 via backward compatibility, the game remains locked at 30 FPS. The 60 FPS patch’s creator, Lance McDonald, stated that MarkScan Enforcement was also responsible for the DMCA notice he received. In response to the takedowns, McDonald speculated that Sony’s DMCA takedowns of the 60 FPS patch and the PS1 demake could be in preparation for a potentialBloodborneremake and that the fan projects could interfere with search engine results.

Although former Sony leaderShuhei Yoshida has theorized about a potentialBloodborneremaster, neither Sony nor FromSoftware have confirmed anything about it. Only time will tell if players will return to Yharnam again.
