Summary
Call of Duty: Black Ops 6publisher Activision has only just revealed the full details of the game’s upcoming collaboration withthe Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, but players are already taking to social media to blast the studio for the overpriced cosmetics included in the event. The newTeenage Mutant Ninja Turtlesevent arrives with Season 2 Reloaded and will bring various new weapons, operator skins, modes, and more toCall of Duty: Black Ops 6andWarzone.
On February 18, a lengthy new blog post confirmed thatCall of Duty: Black Ops 6andWarzone’s highly anticipated Season 2 Reloaded updatewill be released on February 20. The mid-season refresh will once again bring new multiplayer maps, modes, weapons, cosmetic bundles, and more to the first-person shooter, but the same can’t be said for its free-to-play counterpart. WithWarzonein such a dire state right now, Activision has remained committed to rectifying the many bugs and glitches plaguing the Battle Royale title. As such, Season 2 Reloaded will only include one piece ofWarzonecontent: the new Low Profile Perk, which improves movement speed when crouched, prone, or downed.
Call of Duty Fans Call New TMNT Event “Despicable”
Alongside details on Season 2 Reloaded, Activision also pulled back the curtain on its newest collaboration with theTeenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Unfortunately, after fans got their first look atCall of Duty’s latest Event Pass for theTMNTcrossover, they took to Reddit to blast the publisher for the overall price of the event. In a new post on Reddit, one user called the many microtransactions “despicable.” They explained that it would cost over $80 to acquire all of the Turtles from separate bundles, followed by another $10 for the premium version of the Event Pass, which also includes a Splinter operator skin alongside a handful of other cosmetic items.
The post in question has well over 1,000 upvotes, and most of the comments seem to agree. “[Call of Duty] has been wayyy too expensive for the last 5 years man, I’ve given up on it,” Reddit userWalrus1460said. Some users were even comparingCall of Duty’s take on aTeenage Mutant Ninja Turtlesevent toFortnite, which also collaborated with the popular characters back in 2024. Reddit userAgainst-The-Currentpointed out that all four Turtle skins inFortnitecould be obtained for $30, while the Event Pass was only an additional $10. They also noted that Fortnite is completely free-to-play and “isn’t going anywhere for many years,” whileCall of Dutyplayers most likely won’t be able to carry their skins forward into the next entry in the series.
This isn’t the first time that Activision has sparked controversy with a new event. Earlier this year,Call of Dutycollaborated withSquid Game, the hit Netflix show. While the event did see new modes and cosmetic items added to the game, it sparked a huge amount of controversy for adding an Event Pass on top of an existing Battle Pass and Blackcell Battle Pass. There was also anger at the price of theSquid Gamebundles in the store, but fans were most annoyed over the fact that they needed to pay for yet another Pass if they wanted to make the most of the event. Similar to theSquid GameEvent Pass, the premiumTMNTEvent Pass will be priced at 1,100 COD Points.
