Summary

A new leak has revealed fresh details on Verdansk’s return inCall of Duty: Warzone, as in-game files now suggest that players will be able to jump into Resurgence on the iconic map when it makes its triumphant return. Back in August 2024,Call of Duty: Warzonepublisher Activision confirmed that Verdansk, the game’s very first Battle Royale map, would be returning in Spring 2025. With the release window now fast approaching, it looks like more and more details are starting to emerge.

SinceWarzone’s initial release in 2020, the free-to-play Battle Royale title has evolved massively over the years. With each newCall of Dutytitle, Activision fully integrates its latest shooter withWarzone, which usually brings new maps, weapons, modes, and other general gameplay changes to the title.Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, for example, brought its brand-newomnidirectional movement system toWarzonewith Season 1. However, much of the improvements and new content have been a big miss with players, which has led to a large portion of the community requesting that Verdansk, the game’s very first Battle Royale map, make its return.

Warzone Leak Reveals Verdansk Resurgence Playlist

Activision heard the community’s requests loud and clear and confirmed thatVerdansk would return toWarzonein Spring 2025. While there is currently no firm release date set for the map’s return, various leaks and rumors indicate that it could arrive with the game’s Season 3 update in March. With the shooter now at the halfway point of Season 2, Verdansk’s return could be closer than ever. With the map possibly just a few weeks away, in-game files have been discovered by data miner Reality, who recentlytook to Twitterto announce that there will be a Resurgence mode for Verdansk. For those not familiar with the mode, Resurgence is similar to the standard Battle Royale but allows players to respawn if their teammates remain alive for a certain amount of time.

According to Reality,Call of Duty’s new Season 2 Reloaded updateappears to have added multiple references to Verdansk in the game’s files. Alongside the discovery that a Resurgence playlist will be available for players to check out, the leaker also speculated that the version of Verdansk returning will be the original one and not the version seen inBlack Ops Cold War. The data miner speculated this because an in-game file appears to be named “og_verdansk.” If this is the case, the version of Verdansk that returns toWarzonewill feature an inaccessible Stadium and no underground train system.

While most fans are ecstatic to see the map return, someWarzoneplayers have concerns regarding Verdansk’s return. When the map was first released alongsideWarzonein 2020, the entire gameplay experience was vastly different. Raven Software has gone on to evolve the game massively since the days of Verdansk, with new weapons, a new movement system, and plenty of new gameplay features. As such, some members of the community believe Verdansk just won’t “feel the same” as it did in 2020, which could put a massive dampener on its return.
