8Oh Il-Nam

Played By O Yeong-su

Oh II-Namplayed the mysterious Player 001. While initially portrayed as an invalid old man, fans who presumed his death was a foregone conclusion were taken aback when he remained among the survivors after every round. The ongoing charade and character relationship with Seong Gi-Hun was a strong point ofSquid Game’sfirst season.

The shocking reveal in the finale made Player 001 a legendary plot point and a beautiful long con in the story. It would be a great call back to revisit the character in some fashion, even though the character seemingly passed away due to natural causes.

7Frontman

Played By Lee Byung-hun

The Frontman’srole in the first season ofSquid Gamegave off an eerie aura of invisibility. He is amasked man who controls the fates of hundredsand is seen as the authority over life, death, and profit. Lee Byung-Hun does an excellent job portraying a cold and maniacal villain and has done an even more incredible job as the Frontman unmasked.

While the impostor among the players is a strong story element, it would be a great watch to see the mask return—and order return along with it—to the chaos that broke out during the final episode of season two.

Squid Game: Questions That Need To Be Answered In Season 3

6The Salesman

Played By Gong Yoo

The Salesmancharacter was further explored in the second season ofSquid Gameand was revealed to be a more sinister individual instead of a simple underling of the game. Gong Yoo delivered an unnerving performance for the sadistic taunter who lures unsuspecting innocents into a tragic situation.

Seong Gi-Hun’s- hunt for the Salesman was a tension-filled sequence as every step taken toward the enigma brought him no closer to his capture. It seemed that just when the Salesman was becoming a more interesting character, his time was cut short. More history, or even a return of the character, would be an excellent decision for future seasons and perhaps a spin-off ofSquid Game.

5Im Jeong-Dae

Played By Song Young-chang

Im Jeong-Dae,also known as Player 100, was a perfect addition to the player pool and was a perfect adversary to common sense in the second season ofSquid Game. While not necessarily a villain, Player 100 was just like the other players but had the confidence and vocal ability to sway the masses.

Quickly becoming the respected elder among those who wished the game to continue in order to collect more money, Im Jeong-Dae’s greed and selfishness overpowered those who wished to leave and go back to their everyday lives. His return is a must in season three ofSquid Game, perhaps as a new benefactor or a possible future Frontman.

4Cho Hyun-Ju

Played By Park Sung-hoon

Cho Hyun-Juwas a shining light among the players inSquid Gameseason 2 and stole the show with her ability to get stuff done. On more than one occasion, Cho Hyun-Ju took charge during one of the many treacherous games, leading her gathering of trusted allies to victory. Even in the final episodes of the season, Cho Hyun-ju was instrumental during the assault, fighting for her life along with the other players.

Cho Hyun-ju doesn’t just stand out as a trans character; she leaves an impact on the series as a representation of innocence, making her character a must-have for the next season. Park Sung-hoon did receive some blowback for portraying Cho Hyun-Ju, but delivered a highly praised performance with respect for the community.

Squid Game - Park Yong-Sik gets separated from his mother.

3Park Yong-Sik

Played By Yang Dong-geun

From the very start,Park Yong-Sikand his mother, Jang Geum-Ja, were fated to be a tragic casualty of the games. The mother and son duo showed an apparent lack of understanding, even after the curtain fell and the true nature of the games was revealed.

Park Yong-Sik’s dependency and adversity towards his mother was a triggering plot point that pushed him toward becoming an undesirable character. However, his loss tugged at the heartstrings of thousands of fans, with many hoping his story found a happier ending than the rest of the players. His return in season three ofSquid Gameis warranted to do some justice to his struggle and bring about a completion of his arc in the story.

2Thanos

Played By Choi Seung-Hyun

Thanoserupted on the scene as an agent of chaos very early on inSquid Gameseason 2. The egotistical and narcissistic self-made rapper dove head first into the games even after the death toll began to rise, manipulating and lying his way to a more advantageous position.

Quickly becominga character fans love to hate, actor Choi Seung-Hyun played his part perfectly as a lethal linchpin driven by greed and self-preservation. Even going as far as betraying his own allies, Thanos was a menace to the world until the end. While Thanos' fate may already be set in stone, a shocking return out of sheer greed and determination would make for an exciting development.

Gi Hun in Squid Game Season 2

1Seong Gi-Hun

Played By Lee Jung-jae

The star of the show needs no other argument to return for the next and supposed final season ofSquid Game. As the lone survivor of the first games,Seong Gi-Hunis the hope that drives the series as he tries to save the lives of the remaining players and put an end to the sinister events that take advantage of the unfortunate.

Lee Jung-Jae’s drastic changein the second seasonwas polarizing, going from an opportunist to a dependable ally who generally wishes to save lives. Seong Gi-Hun’s character development is fantastic to experience and has fans clamoring to find out where his story ends in the upcoming season.
