Civilization 7’s Antiquity Age Features the Dawn of Any Victory

What Time Period Does the Antiquity Age Span?

The Antiquity Age represents the dawn of organized civilization as we know it, when humans first began to cluster together after the advent of agriculture. This doesn’t map perfectly onto the “Age of Antiquity” as historians understand it, which is typically defined as the period between the 8th century BC and the 5th century AD. However, attention to detail can be observed all overCivilization 7’s design, with architecture and other technological advancements all clearly inspired by their real world counterparts.

What Civilizations Are Available in the Antiquity Age?

Civilization 7has dramatically changed how Civilizations work compared to previous entries. Players can now mix and matchLeaders and Civsthroughout the game, rather than Leaders being attached to a single Civilization. Likewise, players are no longer locked into a single Civilization’s lineage. Age Transitions allow players to jump from one to another, but the available options aren’t completely unlimited.

Of course, Civilizations are tied to the Age from which they actually come. Furthermore, many Civilizations are only available if players have met certain conditions. Players are gently encouraged to follow a path that resembles the lineage a given Civilization has followed throughout the course of history, but they can technically diverge into any number of unlikely combinations.

Player Goals for Civilization 7’s Antiquity Age

In some ways, the Antiquity Age is an extendedtutorial forCivilization 7. Players will be presented with a great number of choices to make, and although they may seem simple enough at first, many of them have the potential to follow a player for the rest of the game. Of course, the first and most important decision to make for this period begins on the Civilization select screen.

Choosing the right mix of Leader and Civ will lay out the path players will want to follow for the rest of the game. During the Antiquity Age, players are tasked with laying the groundwork for their future success. Following Legacy Paths provides a pretty solid roadmap for anyone that is unsure of what to do, as benefits gained from completing them will carry into the next age. It is also worth considering thatCivilization 7’s Age Systemhas significantly reduced snowballing thanks to Age Transitions. Despite setting the pace for the rest of the game, this means that players ultimately shouldn’t feel too stressed if they fall behind during the Antiquity Age.
