Mods have always been a prevalent part ofCivilization’s PC community. For just about everyCiventry over the last three decades, mods have been a great way for fans to experience new content in between official DLC releases, and experience crossover content from franchises thatCivwould likely never officially partner with, such asFalloutandGame of Thrones. But as is the case with most games, some ofthe bestCivilizationmodshave been those designed to fix some of the respective game’s biggest issues.
According toCivilization 6’s Nexus Mods page, the most popularCiv 6mod of all time is still Remgrandt’s “RestartButton” mod, an 18KB mod that simply adds a restart button toCivilization 6’s in-game menu. That mod came out just two weeks afterCiv 6’s 2016 PC launch, and it’s been downloaded over 72,000 times. The modding community has often done some heavy lifting when a newCivilizationentry releases, and that’s likely to be the case again withCivilization 7.
Modders Might Get Around to Fixing Civilization 7 Before Firaxis
Why Civilization 7’s UI Is Being Criticized
While fans and critics alike have a lot of feedback about Firaxis' latest entry in the long-running 4X series, some of the most common points of criticism revolve aroundCivilization 7’s UI. Some of the most notable issues are as follows:
Fans Will Need to Wait a Little Longer for Official Civilization 7 UI Fixes
A few days ago, beforeCivilization 7had its full launch, Firaxis made a statement regarding the game’s early reception. In this statement, Firaxis confirmed that a handful of fixes are already on their way, with UI fixes being the team’s biggest priority right now. Firaxis specifically stated that it would be looking into “making UI interactions more intuitive, improving map readability, [and] fixing areas of polish like formatting.” Firaxis then stated it’s “committed to getting this right,” and as such these UI fixes might take some time.
Mods Might End Up Doing Some Heavy Lifting for Civilization 7 In The Meantime
It might be a little while before Firaxis' official UI fixes come toCivilization 7, and if this entry is anything like the last, then eager modders might already be in the process of taking matters into their own hands. Even ifCivilization 7’s potential UI modsaren’t perfect, they’ll likely be enough to keep some PC fans invested until the official fixes arrive, and they’ll probably do a good job of showing Firaxis the type of changes that fans want to see.
