Cookie Run: OvenBreakis set to receive its first non-cookie character in almost a decade, the Astronuts, in a forthcoming update. It is only the second time a character that is not a cookie has been announced for theCookie Rungame’s roster since the introduction of Space Doughnut in 2016.
Being the sequel to 2013’sCookie Run,Cookie Run: OvenBreakpacks a vast catalog of playable characters to choose from. Since rolling out with a modest selection of cookies, the endless runner game has expanded its roster over the years, bringing more than 200 cookies and pets into the fold. Along with the size of theCookie Runsequel’s character list, its variety has also improved throughout the years and the Devsisters-developed title has featured everything from themed cookies like the Zombie Cookie to crossover cookies like the ones inspired byHello Kittycharacters. Interestingly, non-cookie additions have also been created for the game, the newest of which was unveiled in a recent dev stream.
In theirUniverse Ablaze update stream, on February 26,Cookie Run’s devs revealed the Astronuts, a new alien species encountered by the cookies and the first non-cookie addition to the game’s roster in over eight years. The stream hints at the Astronuts being a pair of individual peanut-like characters and also gives a glimpse at their accompanying pet, Squeakspeak. It was also shared that the Space Seed Pirates Epic Costume for the forthcoming character and a Pirates' Puppet Master version of their pet, which could be unlocked usingCookie RunRainbow Cubes, are in the pipeline with future updates as well. No exact date was mentioned for the brand-new playable character’s arrival, with the devs simply labeling the content as “coming soon.”

Even though there’s no release date for the addition of the Astronuts yet, it hasn’t stopped the anticipation amongCookie Runfansfrom growing as they wait for the new character to land in the game. On Reddit, a certain section of fans shared their views on the announcement, with most of them expressing their interest in trying out the non-cookie character. While one enthused fan said that they were keen to know more about the Astronuts and to “see how their gameplay works,” another player complimented the attractive appearance of the duo, calling them “the cutest.”
As fans wait for the Astronuts to be added, they can indulge in the various other changes that have been implemented byCookie Run’s devsin the latest update, which continues the Sugar Nova Odyssey saga. Among the newly released additions are the Legendary Stevia Nova Cookie and a bunch of new costumes for the character, among other things.
