The ongoing promotion launched on March 2 and is planned to run for exactly one week, ending at 9am PST / 12pm EST / 6pm CET on March 9. Apart from Windows PCs,Isle of Jurais also playable on macOS and the Linux-based SteamOS. Free games on Valve’s digital store are typically prevented fromdropping Steam Trading Cards, but that’s a non-issue here sinceIsle of Juradoesn’t support them anyway.
What Is Isle of Jura?
Isle of Juraputs players in the shoes of Alex, a high school student who embarks on a fishing trip with the goal of finishing her surprisingly demanding biology report. To that end, she travels to a remote island called Jura, seeking a variety of fish species to study.Isle of Jura’s setting was inspired by the real-world island of the same name, which is located off the Scottish west coast, in the Inner Hebrides, near Islay.
Apart from minimalist graphics and a relaxing soundtrack, thisScotland-set gamealso offers over 50 fish species to catch. The mechanics of doing so have some depth to them, with the protagonist being able to master three types of fishing techniques over the course of the game. Aside from finding new fishing spots, exploration is also rewarded with a variety of artifacts that are hidden throughout the island. Jura also has some NPC inhabitants that Alex can chat up. A few Steam user reviews comparedIsle of Jurato a single-player version of Iamdeveloper’sWebfishing, describing it as a cozy game that’s great for relaxing and soaking up the atmosphere.
