Summary

AlthoughDark Souls 3is meant to be challenging, there’s always a balance between bosses that are very difficult and those that aren’t as hard. While none of them are forgiving for the level players face them at, there are some things like speed, resistance orweakness to status effects like Frostbitethat can change the game significantly.

Many of the fastest bosses inDark Souls 3do not hit as hard, which makes fights more fair, whereas those that are slowersometimes hit like a truckto make up for their lack of agility. Here are some of theslowest bosses inDark Souls 3.

Location

Cemetery of Ash

When players first encounterIudex Gundyrin the Cemetery of Ash, he can seem like a great challenge. Naturally, after some time passes and players level up, they get a new sense of perspective that allows them to see that he’s nothing but a pushover—especially compared to his more aggressive version, Champion Gundyr.

Gundyr not only has a very slow moveset, but, even for the early stages in the game, he doesn’t deal as much damage as other enemies in the first few hours ofDark Souls 3.Gundyr is weak to fire, so anyone struggling to defeat him might want to use that to their advantage. Granted, even if players choose a Fire Gem as a Burial Gift, they still need Andre the Blacksmith at the Firelink Shrine to infuse their weapon with it, so using fire against Iudex Gundyr is impossible during NG without cheats.

High Wall of Lothric

Vordt of the Boreal Valleyis a peculiar boss inDark Souls 3, as he can be quite easy to defeat if players know the trick of staying close to his legs and avoiding his charge attacks. However, even those who are newcomers to the franchise and have no previous knowledge of the tips to make him simple to defeat can normally avoid getting hit by him due to his slow speed.

While the High Wall of Lothric is a very early point in the game to have a character with a well-developed build.Using a good quality weaponat this particular point can go a long way.

Curse-Rotted Greatwood from Dark Souls 3 (1)

Undead Settlement

The Curse-Rotted Greatwood is very annoying for many reasons. For starters, it’s surrounded by various enemies that will attack the Ashen One when they try to strike at the boss. However, players have to hit the Greatwood’s pustules to deal any kind of damage to it, which can be difficult as it moves constantly. Granted, it moves at a very slow pace and its attacks are fairly easy to predict; however, since it’s encountered early on in the game, some players might have trouble beating it within their first few tries.

Usinga good Dexterity weaponlike the Sellsword Twinblades can help players be able to strike faster, increasing their chances of hitting the pustules more often.

Anor Londo

Aldrichis one of the last Lords of Cinder that players will have to defeat before they can gain access to the Kiln of the First Flame and the Soul of Cinder. Saint Aldrich can be found deep in Anor Londo, guarded by many deacons, Black Knights, and other deadly enemies that hide in the shadows.

Aldrich does not move particularly fast. However, he does have a deadly rain of arrows that can kill players quickly if they don’t know how to dodge it properly. Since Aldrich is slow to dodge, using a Greatsword against himcan go a long way to dealing good damage in a short time.

Catacoms of Carthus

The fight againstHigh Lord Wolnirin the Catacombs of Carthus can be very intimidating. But once players face him, they’ll quickly learn that this is just a psychological tactic that the game is playing on them. In reality, High Lord Wolnir is mostly harmless, and the real danger lies with the poison in his boss arena. He’s quite slow to attacking players, which makes hitting the bracelets on his wrists rather simple.

Choosing a starting classlike the Mercenary, which comes paired with the Sellsword Twinblades can be a great idea, as quick strikes can quickly break Wolnir’s bracelets and bring him down.

Soul of Yhorm the Giant, Cinders of a Lord, 36,000 Souls

Profaned Capital

Yhorm the Giantis arguably the largest boss in the entirety ofDark Souls 3. On top of this, he’s a Lord of Cinder, which means that players have to defeat him to progress through the game. Found in the Profaned Capital, Yhorm sits in a large throne room that players will have to learn by heart to know where to run, as he has incredible range with his Great Machete.

While he can be defeated with regular weapons, this takes a long time, so using the special weapon “Storm Ruler” found in the previously mentioned throne room is the way to go. Yhorm is rather slow to move and attack, but, naturally, he hits like a truck. Players going for NG+ might want to try some of thebest mods forDark Souls 3. One of the greatest out there is one that dresses Yhorm as Giant Dad, a famous build from the originalDark Souls.

Cathedral of the Deep

Lastly, there’s theDeacons of the Deep. More than being an actual challenge, these guys are more of a nuisance, as they don’t really hit very hard, move at the pace of an elderly snail, and basically stick to chasing players across the room they can be found in.

Using one of the bestStrength weapons in the gamewhile having a decent Strength build can make dealing with them very easy, as a single strike might be enough to bring a large number of them down, exposing the Archdeacon.
