How Strong Are Hashira?
Hashiras are undoubtedly pretty powerful and can take down normal demons easily on their own. But when it comes to Upper Moons, who are the strongest of demons, the chances of Hashira winning are relatively low. Besides the Blood Demon Art, demons can also heal themselves and regenerate their body parts. So, no matter how skilled a Hashira is, their stamina will eventually drain out and they will reach their limit faster as compared to a demon.
Himejima Gyomei, who is considered the most powerful Hashiras and displays extreme physical strength, has his limits as well. Against the lesser-ranked Upper Moons like Daki and Gyutaro,Hashiras can put up a good fight without the mark, and we do see it in the series whenTengen Uzui fights them both.
But he did need the help of Tanjiro, Zenitsu and Inosuke to defeat the Upper Rank six. But as soon as we start going towards higher ranks, including the likes ofKokushibo, Akazaand Doma, Hashiras don’t stand a chance against these monsters withoutthe Demon Slayer mark.
Being humans, they are likely to reach their limit pretty soon as these upper-ranking demons are very hard to beat. A single mistake can cost Hashiras their limbs and even their lives. As for demons, they have no problem losing their body parts as they can regenerate them mid-battle.
How Can Hashiras Be As Powerful As Demons?
Besides the mark, there are only a few ways by which Hashiras can match the strength of powerful demons like the Upper Moons. One way is to go through rigorous training by battling sturdy demons. With enough experience, the Hashiras might be able to put up a fight against higher-level demons. It is also worth noting that this requires putting themselves in extreme danger, which is why most Demon Slayers die so young.
Another way is to develop strategies, and a good example of that is Shinobu’s case. She was aware ofhow weak she wasas compared to other Hashiras in terms of physical strength. So, to make up for it, she mastered the use of wisteria poison, which is extremely deadly to demons. This also allowed her to defeat the Upper Moon Doma without the mark but this act of hers did come with a lot of consequences.
Other than that the best way to defeat the most powerful of demons is by fighting together, which is what made Hashiras and Tanjiro win most of their fights inDemon Slayer.
