Summary
Bungie confirms that the recentDestiny 2bug which made class-specific swords and glaives available to everyone won’t be fixed and kept as a normal feature. For most of the weapons thatDestiny 2issues out to players, it can be used by any of the 3 classes. However, there are a handful of specific weapons that were originally designed for Hunters, Warlocks, or Titans.
These class-restricted weapons are largely restricted to swords and glaives, such as the Goldtusk, a Hunter-specific legendary sword that was designed to give the class the appearance of a ninja. Similarly,Destiny 2: The Witch Queen introduced exotic glaives, each designed specifically for a certain class, as the weapon bestowed some sort of bonus like a protective shield, healing turret, or seeking shot. However, it seems the rules that kept these weapons restricted to certain classes has been accidentally broken inside of Episode Heresy.
FollowingDestiny 2’s Episode Heresy update, players began noticing that these class-specific swords and glaives were no longer restricted and could be equipped by anyone. Players took advantage of this by developing some unique subclass builds, even if the animations looked off with certain classes being able to do things they weren’t previously meant to. Bungie used itsweekly blogaddress to confirm it had been keeping track of the situation and ultimately decided to let this one go without a fix.
Class-Specific Weapons Won’t Be Fixed in Destiny 2
Bungie admitted that it had made some background changes to creating weapons and rewards to help streamline the development process, which is likely where this bug happened. While the studio intended to fix the issue, it changed course once players began celebrating the changes and showing off someuniqueDestiny 2character buildsand other sorts of content. Bungie admits that the animations will continue to look a bit odd, though it has seemingly inspired Bungie to create more unique animations for Warlocks and Titans in the future.
Reaction to the announcement has been met with plenty of positivity from fans, with many counting it as a win for the game and Bungie. Speaking of, the studio could definitely use a win at the moment as Episode Heresy has seemingly continued a worrying trend of major bugs being introduced into the game, asDestiny 2players report broken activities, unreleased weapons dropping, and animations completely breaking to name a few.
