Summary

Ever since the start of theDragon Ball Superpart of the franchise, the power scaling has gone through the roof. With the introduction of Beerus and Whis, and, subsequently, of Gods of Destruction, Angels, and the multiverse, the larger world of the franchise is on a level of power that makes anything from the earlier parts of the series look tame by comparison.

To keep up with the ever-increasing strength of the many characters inDragon Ball, the heroes have also had to unlock new transformations that are far stronger than anything before. However, despite the Z-Fighters boasting some of the strongest characters in the multiverse, they would allbe at the mercy of Black Frieza, who many fans believe to be as strong as a Destroyer God. So, let’s take a look to see if this is truly the case.

Story Arc

Granolah The Survivor Saga

For many, the Granolah arc is arguably the best in the entireSuperseries. Not only did this arc tell an incredible story with amazing callbacks to the sins of the Saiyan’s past, but it also had amazing character moments forjust about everyone involved, particularly Vegeta. However, no reveal or moment in the entire arc had quite the same amount of gravitas to it as the reintroduction of Frieza in theSupermanga, which was in the last chapter.

While it would have been amazing to see him again regardless, he arrived on Planet Cereal with a massive power-up. After going on to conquer many worlds ever since Tournament of Power ended, Frieza made his way to a planet with a Hyperbolic Time Chamber within it, in which he underwent approximately 10 years of training in the span of a few days, the result of which was his terrifying new Black Frieza form. This transformation was so powerful that the villain was able to knock Goku and Vegeta out in their strongest forms with a single hit.

Meet Black Frieza. Achieving this form took plenty of toil, I’ll have you know!

Now, this already puts him on a level that is far above that of all the mortal characters in the series. With the Divine Techniques, Goku and Vegeta are stronger than they have ever been and are now using the powers of the Angels and Destroyer Gods respectively, bringing them ever closer to the level of the Gods of Destruction. Still, they wereeasily finished by Black Frieza, prompting many fans to now think of the villain as being on this level of strength. However, there is nuance in the answer to this question.

In theSupermanga, it is revealed that while all Destroyer Gods are exceptionally powerful, there are variations in their strength since not all of them are equal. In a brief sparring match held between the Destroyers to test the stage made by the Grand Priest, Beerus was shown to be taking all the others on at once and, even at the end, he was the only one left standing along with Quitela, implying that these two are the strongest Gods of Destruction.

This is important when remembering Sidra’s attempts at killing Goku, where he entrusted his Hakai power to someone else for them to use it on Goku to kill him before the Tournament of Power even started. Despite being incredibly powerful and enough to destroy entire planets, Goku and Frieza were both able to increase their Ki enough to overpower the Destroyer’s energy, showing just how powerful they are and thevariation in the strength of these deities.

When taking all of this into consideration, a conclusion can be made regarding Black Frieza’s place in the Divine Hierarchy. To answer the question, yes, Black Frieza is very likely on the same level as the Gods of Destruction and may even be stronger than many of them, since Ultra Instinct Goku was said to have achieved something that even they couldn’t and Frieza was able to defeat him with a single punch. This proves that Black Frieza may just be the final obstacle that the heroes may have to face at the end of the series.

Black Frieza’s Place Among The Destroyers

Where Would He Rank Among The Gods of Destruction?

Black Frieza’s power is immense and terrifying, so many believe that he is almost surely going to be the final villain of the entire series. Not only would this make the most sense from a power scaling perspective, but also from a narrative standpoint, since the greatest villain for the Saiyan race would bethe final one they would have to defeat. So, due to his strength, Frieza would be considered as someone who is Destroyer level.

Now, within the ranks of the Gods, the true hierarchy is unclear since it has never been expanded upon. However, what can be surmised is that he is at least stronger than Sidra, whose Hakai wasn’t enough to kill him or Goku during a time when they were far weaker than they are now. Subsequently, he would be able to overpower many of the weaker Destroyers, but is certainly under the level of Beerus and Quitela, the former of whom is perhaps the strongest God of Destruction out of them all.
