In December, during Jump Festa 25, it was announced that a new chapter ofDragon Ball Superwould be released in February. Back then, the chapter was marketed as a special one-shot story. As theDragon Ball Supermanga has been on hiatus since March, fans were happy with the news, even though there was no information about the series returning to regular serialization.
However, things changed during this week. The first drafts of the chapter confirmed that it is not just a special one-shot, it is in fact the continuation of the series. Titled “The Birth of Saiyamen X”, the upcoming chapter is tagged as “Chapter 104”. Since the series has been on hiatus for a long time, some fans might be confused as to when the chapter is coming out and where to read it officially when it launches.
Dragon Ball Super Chapter 104: Release Date and Premise
“The Birth of Saiyamen X"will bereleased on February 19 in the US(it comes out on February 20 in Japan). As the title suggests, it will tellthe origin story of Saiyaman X-1 and Saiyaman X-2, which are the code names Trunks and Goten adopt when fighting crimes in disguise, similar toGohan’s iconic Great Saiyaman alter egointroduced after the Cell Saga.
Dragon Ball Super,as well as other manga in the franchise, has been officially released in the US by VIZ Media. The latest chapters areavailable for free on Manga PLUSin English and Spanish – they are released simultaneously with the Japanese schedule. Dragon Ball Supervolumes are also officially published in many countries. Chapter 104 will be featured in Volume 24, which currently has no release window. When Will Chapter 105 Be Released?
So far, it hasn’t been revealed when Chapter 105 will be released. But since the one-shot was confirmed to be Chapter 104,fans now hope that the upcomingV-JUMPmagazine will schedule Chapter 105 for March 2025, and that the series will return to its regular monthly schedule. However, this has yet to be confirmed, although it seems likely to happen.
Chapter 104 features a prequel toDragon Ball Super: Super Hero– the manga has previously adapted the events of the movie. However, the official social media is marketing Chapter 104 as “the first chapter of theDragon Ball Super’s manga’s newest story, the SUPER HERO Arc,” making it look likethe chapter is not exactly a one-shot, but the start of a new arc in theSuper Hero Saga:
The manga has been covering events related to theSuper Heromovie since Chapter 88, released in 2023.
