However, a hint of hope for fans returned during Jump Festa 2025, when a one-shot forDragon Ball Superwas announced. This one shot was announced to be released on July 24, 2025. Since then, not much was heard concerning this one shot, until now.

The Dragon Ball one shot has been a work in progress, and soon, a draft of it will be revealed to fans. This draft is said to come out in a few days, specifically on July 04, 2025.
What is The Dragon Ball One Shot About?
With Toriyama’s death last year, the series definitely took a hit. But now, fans are awaiting this new one-shot. Details aren’t really known concerning its content, but one thing fans know for sure is that this one shot will be about two specific characters, Goten and Trunks.
The story will take place around theDragon Ball Super: Super Hero arc, and will not be correlated to the current story the manga stopped at.
Since this is a one-shot, it will likely be longer than the usual manga chapter, so fans will have some good content to look forward to very soon.
What This Means for The Future of Dragon Ball
While a one-shot is exciting, many fans would’ve probably preferred for the manga to resume. While nothing has been said about it so far, all hope isn’t lost, and the manga might still eventually return, albeit withoutthe guidance and opinion of Toriyama.
There might also be more animated projects planned for the series, such as Season 2 of Dragon Ball Daima and maybe some animated movies, but nothing is confirmed as of yet. 2025 could be a very good year for Dragon Ball fans.
