Summary

Warning: The following contains spoilers for Dragon Ball Daima, Episode 20, “Maximum”, now streaming onCrunchyroll.

With Goku and theZ Fighters beating King Gomahin theDragon Ball Daimafinale, what’s next for the series? Or is there even a “next” to talk about? Obviously, there’s still a lot of material forDragon Ball Superto adapt to anime. There hasn’t been an announcement about when theSuperanime will continue, but it’s only a matter of when, not if, it comes. But what about the world, story, and characters thatDaimaintroduced?

The Demon World, Magic, Glorio, Panzy, Arinsu, and her Majins, are all these concepts and characters destined to stay inDragon Ball’spast now thatDaimais over? To be clear, there’s no news about anything Daima-related in the works yet, but there hasn’t been anything that implies the door to the Demon Realm is closed now either. Either way, it’s fun to speculate about what might come next, and there are quite a few possibilities.

Is Daima Season 2 Possible?

What Could it Be About?

While acontinuation of theDragon Ball Superanime is inevitable, is it possible thatDaimacould get a second season? As mentioned above, no official news confirms or denies the existence ofDragon Ball Daimaseason 2, but is it at least feasible?

First, is there enough time between the end ofDaimaand the beginning ofSuperto squeeze in another season? The answer is a resounding yes! All ofDaimatakes place in the year 775 intheDragon Balltimeline, and the beginning ofSuperisn’t until the year 778. That’s three years off and is plenty of time for more exciting events and stories to occur.

Second, would inserting another season between the ending ofDaimaand the beginning ofSuperfeel forced? This question’s a little more subjective, but it’s definitely doable in a way that feels natural. The ending of Daima left fans with tons of questions, and many viewers would probably prefer for Goku and the others torevisit the Demon Realmbefore the beginning ofSuper. There are enough questions and possible contradictions betweenDaimaandSuperto fill an entire article by itself. To keep things short though, some of the biggest ones include: why doesn’t Goku use Super Saiyan 4 inSuper, and what role does the Super Majin Rymus have to play in the whole cosmic hierarchy ofSuper? These can all be addressed in a potential second season ofDaima.

The new Supreme Demon King, Majin Kuu, has already set up the stage by giving Goku and the others a potential reason to return. He told Goku he’d call him for help should the Demon Realm face another problem as grave as Third Eye Gomah. In the post-credits scene, it was revealed that there are actually more Evil Third Eyes out there, so a threat that’s as or more dangerous than Gomah could spring up at any second in the Demon Realm, and it’d be up toGoku and the Z Fightersto come back and save the day again.

How About Some Daima Spin-Offs?

If not a direct sequel, another possibility forDragon Ball Daimais to receive a spin-off or even an OVA or two revolving around the Demon Realm and its colorful cast of characters. One interesting premise is for Majin Buu to revisit the realm he came from. One thingDaimahas isa distinct lack of Majin Buu, even though you’d think he’d have a huge role to play in it, since Buu is closely tied to the Demon Realm. They even went into great detail about Buu’s origin in the show, so it’s a curious decision to leave Buu on Earth for a journey likeDaima. A spin-off about Buu and Mr. Satan visiting the Demon Realm and seeing how its citizens would react to the monster that once terrorized them would be hard to mess up.

Another interestingDaimaspin-off premise would be to focus onDemon King Majin Kuu. The new king’s character arc was a wild one; starting off as what seemed like Majin Buu 2.0, he quickly turned into comedic relief, before showing off his intelligence and charisma, making him a deeper, more interesting character. Seeing how he rules and changes the Demon Realm as he tries to repair the damage done by Gomah’s reign would be fascinating to watch.

Another Way For Daima’s Legacy To Continue

The Demon Realm and Its Characters Can Make a Comeback in Dragon Ball Super

IfDaimadoesn’t get a second season, that doesn’t necessarily mean the end for the beloved characters that debuted there. They could always make a comeback throughtheDragon Ball Supermangaand, eventually, the anime. Just note that this probably won’t happen anytime soon. The manga still has to deal with the whole Black Frieza situation before the Demon Realm can come into play again. It would also take years before the anime could catch up to that point, so there’s a lot of waiting to be done if this is the route they take. But just imagine how hype it would be when, after beating Frieza, Majin Kuu suddenly calls out to Goku and the others, saying he needs their help in the Demon Realm.Or Rymus suddenly making an appearancewhile Goku and Vegeta train on Beerus' planet.
