EA Vancouver confirms a brand-new update for its popular mixed martial arts fighting game,EA Sports UFC 5, will be released for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S on February 27. Recent rumors suggest EA Vancouver is now hard at work on anew entry in theUFCseries, with a potential 2025 release being targeted by the studio. However, that doesn’t appear to have stopped EA from regularly releasing new patch updates for the current installment in the series,EA Sports UFC 5. While the mixed martial arts title now has almost 100% parity with the current UFC top ten ranking, a big complaint from fans at the game’s launch was the lack of ranked fighters in the game. The studio heard the feedback loud and clear and has continued to add new fighters to the game as part of various free content updates, with the latest patch adding yet another fighter to the roster.
Following on fromEA Sports UFC 5’s last update in January, EA Vancouver is ending February with another new patch. The game’s 1.20 update will make numerous gameplay improvements, bug fixes, and also add a new fighter to the roster: Iasmin Lucindo, who is a Women’s Strawweight fighter with a professional MMA record of 17-5-0. Lucindo is being added toEA Sports UFC 5to celebrate her upcoming bout against fellow Strawweight fighter, Amanda Lemos. The professional fight will take place at UFC 313, which is scheduled for March 8, where Alex Pereira will once again defend his Light Heavyweight title against Magomed Ankalaev.
Alongside the addition of a brand new fighter, the latestupdate will also see former Welterweight star Michael “Venom” Page added to the game’s Middleweight division. The change in weight class comes after Page made his Middleweight debut during a UFC Fight Night card on February 1, where the professional fighter picked up a unanimous decision win against the previously undefeated Shara Magomedov. Fans can also expect newAlter Egos to arrive inEA Sports UFC 5on March 4, but official details on which fighters these Alter Egos will be for has yet to be revealed.
It’s not just newfighters being added toEA Sports UFC 5in the February 27 update, as there are also numerous gameplay improvements and bug fixes. According to the official patch notes, which can be found below, update 1.20 will add Max Holloway’s unique switch stance combo to his 90s Alter Ego, rectify a camera issue after the Outside Trip from Muay Thai Clinch, fix some Challenge Board challenges not tracking correctly, and much more. The new patch will be available to download at 12 PM ET but will come with 1 hour of server downtime.
