As one of the most critically-acclaimed racing games of all time, many PS5 gamers are no doubt excited to get their hands onForza Horizon 5for themselves to see what all the fuss is about. Unfortunately, there’s a hiccup when it comes toForza Horizon 5’s PS5 release.
It’s been confirmed that there are currently no plans to release a physical version ofForza Horizon 5on PS5, meaning that the game will be digital-only on the platform. It’s true that thevast majority of video game sales nowadays are digital, but there are still many gamers that prefer owning physical copies of their games that will no doubt be upset by this revelation. To make matters even more upsetting for PS5 gamers,Forza Horizon 5had a physical release on Xbox One and Xbox Series X. Why exactlyForza Horizon 5is skipping a physical release on PS5 has not been revealed at the time of this writing.
There Are No Plans for a Forza Horizon 5 PS5 Physical Release
While no official reason forForza Horizon 5not having a physical release on PS5 has been given, we can assume that it’s likely due to internal data showing that a physical release may not be worth the investment. The lack of a physical release doesn’t seem as though it will have that much of an impact onForza Horizon 5’s potential financial success on PS5, with the game already topping thePlayStation Store sales chartsover a month ahead of its release.
It’s definitely disappointing thatForza Horizon 5won’t have a physical release on PS5, but perhaps if fan demand is great enough, Xbox Game Studios will change its mind. In the meantime,Forza Horizon 5isn’t the only Xbox Game Studios game expected to release in April. While an official release date has not been announced, it’s believedIndiana Jones and the Great Circleis coming to PS5in April as well. It will be interesting to see if that game has a physical release on PS5, or if it will follow inForza Horizon 5’s footsteps and be digital-only.
