Gears of War: Judgment Was a Shake-Up for the Franchise

Gears of War: Judgmentmay not have met the same heights asthe originalGears of Wartrilogy, but the prequel offers a compelling first-time look into post-Emergence Day Sera. The story follows Damon Baird, Augustus Cole, and the rest of their Kilo squad as they recount the events that have left them on trial for disobeying orders. It’s a fascinating new look into theGears of Warlore that has continued to be an underrated entry in the overall franchise.

So,Gears of War: E-Daymay not be the first prequel in the series, but it has plenty of interesting moments to draw from. Now thatPeople Can Fly is helping The Coalitionsteer the development ship, it raises questions about whether there will be clear connections toGears of War: Judgmentor not.

When it comes to the characters of Damon Baird and Augustus Cole, there is a possibility that they could be featured in some capacity. Of course, the duo doesn’t meet Marcus and Dom until much later. However,they join the COG Army on Emergence Day, setting the stage for their future in the franchise. Baird’s parents were even killed by the Locust Horde on Emergence Day, which could bringE-Daya compelling and emotional side story to follow. Having People Can Fly on board would give the studio and The Coalition the chance to collaborate on the story, with the former offering backstories they have created of the infamous event in order to keep continuity strong.

There has yet to be a release date confirmed forGears of War: E-Day, but considering that 2026 marks the first game’s 20th anniversary, that window may be a safe bet.
