A recentGenshin Impactleak has revealed the ability kit for Varesa, the upcoming 5-Star Electro Catalyst character set to make her playable debut in Version 5.5. While Varesa has yet to appear inGenshin Impact, her name was already mentioned by other notable characters, either by Iansan during the Archon Quest, or by Mavuika in her voice lines. A competitive eater and stout warrior from the Collective of Plenty, Varesa is expected to be one of the main highlights of Version 5.5, with the other one being Iansan herself.
The general premise of Varesa’s ability kit inGenshin Impactis that she is a Plunge hypercarry who can transition from Charged Attacks into Plunging Attacks and has a high interruption resistance built into her rotation. Much likeIansan’s ability kit inGenshin Impact, Varesa will be able to mimic the Tatankasaurus by holding her Elemental Skill, allowing her to dash with increased speed, leap across distances, and even pass through Liquid Phlogiston by consuming her Nightsoul Points.
Thanks to Seele Leaks and Narc1ssus,Genshin Impactplayers can have a first look at Varesa’s ability kit ahead of the beta for Version 5.5. One thing that immediately stands out is that Varesa will be able to enter a special Limit Drive state after triggering her Elemental Burst. For the duration of Limit Drive, Varesa will be able to continuously trigger her Elemental Burst without a cooldown and at a significantly lower energy cost. This damage is counted as a Plunging Attack, which effectively confirms that thenew Artifact Set inGenshin Impactwas made with Varesa in mind.
While Natlan hypercarries tend to benefit from having Nightsoul characters in their party, Varesa can effectively receive a 60% bonus to her ATK by triggering Nightsoul Burst twice within a 12-second window. As a result, it’s likely that Varesa’s preferred teammates will end up being Xilonen, Iansan, and Xianyun. Alternatively, depending on her multipliers, Varesa could favorOverload teams inGenshin Impactas well. It should be noted that triggering her Elemental Burst gives Varesa Electro infusion, but it remains to be seen if this infusion can be maintained after transitioning into the Limit Drive state.
Despite Iansan’s ability kit sparking a bigger discourse in theGenshin Impactcommunity, Varesa has the potential to grow into apopularGenshin Impactcharacterover the course of the beta. On paper, her ability kit is certainly a unique take on Plunging Attacks, but it remains to be seen how all the layers come together in action. Version 5.5 is set to launch on March 26.
