Summary

Grand Theft Auto 6fans are using the recently announcedBorderlands 4release date to narrow down a potential launch window for Rockstar Games' highly anticipated title. AlthoughGrand Theft Auto 6andBorderlands 4are developed by two completely different studios, Rockstar Games and 2K are subsidiaries of Take-Two Interactive, allowing fans to pinpoint a smaller release window within the confirmed Fall 2025 launch.

Borderlands 4was revealed to the world back in 2024, but a new trailer was shown during theFebruary 2025 State of Playthat confirmed the sequel will be released for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC on May 22, 2025. During the event, Gearbox’s Randy Varnell and Randy Pitchford also announced that an exclusiveBorderlands 4State of Play will be taking place in Spring, focused on combat, action skills, exploration, and more for the upcoming title. WhileGrand Theft Auto 6(unsurprisingly) didn’t make an appearance at the February State of Play,Borderlands 4’s release date did give the community a lot to discuss.

GTA 6 Fans Use Borderlands 4’s Release Date to Narrow Down Launch Window

Grand Theft Auto 6’s first trailer broke the internet back in December 2023, but Rockstar Games has been silent on its upcoming release ever since. The title was originally revealed to be released in 2025, with Take-Two Interactive then narrowing the window down to Fall 2025 in a quarterly earnings call. Now, thanks toBorderlands 4announcing its release date, fans believe they can narrow downGrand Theft Auto 6’s release dateeven further. Reddit user Prime-time-814 believes that it’s “looking more likely” thatGrand Theft Auto 6won’t be released until late November at the earliest as Take-Two “wouldn’t stack two major releases so close together.” This is a theory that many other fans seem to agree on.

Reddit userHavenTheCatagrees with the original poster, saying that they were “hoping” for a September/October release date, but November “seems to be the most likely month” as Take-Two won’t want toreleaseBorderlands 4andGrand Theft Auto 6too close to each other. Users on Twitter are also discussing a potential release window for Rockstar’s next title, withBensaying thatBorderlands 4’s release date “leavesGrand Theft Auto 6with an October/November release.” While there’s still yet to be an official announcement from either Rockstar or Take-Two, most fans can agree that a November release date seems to be the most realistic option.

With over 400 days of silence from Rockstar, many fans have begun growing increasingly concerned that a delay is imminent. However, Take-Two Interactive CEOStrauss Zelnick recently reaffirmedGrand Theft Auto 6’s Fall 2025 releaseduring a quarterly earnings call. While the CEO did admit that slippage is always possible, he said the studio remains confident thatGrand Theft Auto 6will be released later this year. But with the months continuing to pass by, fans are eager to see a new trailer, screenshots, or just any sort of official news surrounding the title.
