Summary
On February 19, Supergiant Games revealed the second major update for its roguelike early access titleHades 2.The Warsong Update introduced content such as a new Olympian and a final boss for the Surface route. The newHades 2patch is now available for players to download and provide feedback before the game’s full release.
Like its predecessor,Hades 2putsplayers in control of a demigodas they explore lands taken from Greek mythology and face formidable monsters and gods alike. As Melinoë, the daughter of Hades and sister to the previous protagonist Zagreus, players have new boons that are more magic-focused compared to the first game’s emphasis on weapons and dodging. Melinoe’s quest to take down Chronos, the Titan of Time, also leads her down one of two different paths players can pick from. However, the game is still in early access at the time of writing, so any feedback gathered by Supergiant Games is crucial for the future ofHades 2.
However,Hades 2players now have a new major update with chunks of new content to experience.Hades 2’s Warsong Update is now available to download on Steam and the Epic Games Store after a client restart. Picking upwhere the October 2024 Olympic Update left off,Hades 2’s Surface Route will culminate in a final boss confrontation at the end of the run. Supergiant Games kept the new boss a secret but confirmed that the battle would take place on the summit of Mount Olympus.
Additionally, one of the major Olympians from the firstHadestitle has made a comeback, as players can now gain Boons from Ares, the God of War. Some of Ares' Boons can increase Melinoë’s attack power, allow blades to be created after dashing or casting a spell, and inflict wounds that deal damage over time. Melinoë can also call upon a new Animal Familiar, Gale the Polecat, who can grant additional movement speed and dodge chance.
Hades 2also revamped a lot of Boons from other Olympians, including some cuts and replacements. Three Nocturnal weapons, namely the Witch’s Staff, Argent Skull, and Black Coat, were updated in the new patch. With the Black Coat now increasing Omega Attack damage and allowing Melinoë to Dash while channeling it, this couldmake Bonk Builds much strongerthan before.
Supergiant Games also stated that a third major early access update forHades 2is in development, but did not share when the game’s full release would be. With another update planned, only time will tell ifother missing characters fromHadeswill appear in the sequel.
