There is no doubt that ever since the Wano arc was animated, fans noticed a major change in the animation quality of the episodes produced. The director, Tatsuya Nagamine has focused on improving the animation significantly by featuring more vibrant colors and flawless character movements. The emotions and expressions are animated in a much better way which makes it incredibly satisfying to watch. It almost feels like watching a movie.

The battle sequences are much more exciting to watch and we see this improvement greatly in Luffy’s battle against Kaidou. While theGear 5 transformationitself is animated beautifully the action-packed fights are also extremely thrilling to watch.

Can One Piece Anime Ever Be Better Than The Source Material

The Gear 5 transformation of Monkey D. Luffy is something that fans have been waiting for forever to get animated. However, many were quite skeptical as they felt like the studio might not do the legendary transformation any justice. Much to everyone’s surprise,Toei’s animationnot only did the arc complete justice but also in many ways showcased it in a much better way as compared to the manga.

Everything was executed perfectly, from Luffy’s rubber-like movements to the most anticipated battle sequences. The vibrant animation paired with a stellar music score, made the whole arc an unforgettable experience. Kohei Tanaka’s work on the music score makes the arc so much better. The character expressions and background setting are also incredibly detailed, making every frame of these episodes a treat for the eyes.

Now the question remains if the anime has finally managed to surpass the manga. There is no doubt that we have seen a lot of improvement starting from the Wano arc in terms of animation quality, music score, and pace. If it continues on its track and remains consistent, there are high chances that it might just be crowned better than the source material. But being the original, manga certainly takes the first place, and rightfully so.
