Explosions are the lifeblood ofHelldivers 2. There is nothing more satisfying than leveling an entire enemy encampment with a well-placed airstrike or watching a swarm of bugs go up in flames under a blanket of napalm. Thanks to the Servants of Freedom Warbond, you now have two new ways to deliver large-scale destruction: theGP-31 Ultimatum,a pocket-sized nuke launcher, and theB-100 Portable Hellbomb, a backpack nuke that lives up to its name to obliterate everything in a large radius.

While the Ultimatum is a simple fire and forget secondary, the Portable Hellbomb is not as simple as throwing a beacon and watching the fireworks. It requires some extra steps to activate and deploy, and if you are not careful, you might just blow your entire team up in the process. Here is everything you need to know about using the B-100 Portable Hellbomb effectively inHelldivers 2.

How to Unlock the Portable Hellbomb in Helldivers 2

The B-100 Portable Hellbomb can be unlocked by purchasing theServants of Freedom Warbond inHelldivers 2. It is located on the third page and costs 110 Medals. That, however, does not include the additional Medals required to progress through the first two pages before you’re able to access this powerful backpack stratagem. It may seem like a hefty investment, but the B-100 Portable Hellbomb is well worth the cost if you want to turn the battlefield into a graveyard of craters and fallen enemies.

How to Use and Activate the B-100 Portal Hellbomb in Helldivers 2

Carrying a Portable Hellbomb on your back may sound dangerous, but do not worry. It has to be manually activated, meaning neither enemy nor friendly fire can set it off.

Similar tohow you use the Supply Pack stratagemon yourself, you can activate the Portable Hellbomb by pressing 5 on PC or D-Pad Down on PlayStation 5inHelldivers 2. This will start a 10-second timer. Quickly hold X or D-Pad Down to select the backpack slot and drop the bomb before sprinting to safety.

Helldivers 2 - Portable Hellbomb Countdown

Once activated, the B-100 Portable Hellbomb cannot be disarmed. Liberty requires massive explosions and going back on that would be undemocratic. So, make sure to communicate with your teammates whenever you decide to drop the bomb.

The Portable Hellbomb is the same as thestandard Hellbomb used to destroy facility buildingssuch as Research Stations and Rogue Research Labs during specific missions. It does the same amount of damage within the same blast radius, enough to wipe out everything and everyone caught in the explosion. Unless you are a new player, you should already be familiar with its explosive range. So, make sure to start running as far away as possible after dropping a ticking Hellbomb.

Unlike the standard mission-exclusive Hellbomb though, which can be called once, the B-100 Portable Hellbomb has infinite uses. Withall cooldown-reducing ship upgradesunlocked, you cancall in a new Hellbomb approximately every 4 minutes.

Dying in the name of managed democracy is always an acceptable sacrifice. Thebest way to use the Portable HellbombinHelldivers 2is to push deep into the heart of heavy outposts, nests, or encampments before activating its timer.

This kamikaze maneuver might mean you will not make it out alive, but taking down an entire Command Bunker and a dozen heavily armored enemies in a single explosion without wasting stratagems and lives is a worthy trade, especially onlevel 9 (helldive) or 10 (super helldive) difficulty.
