Summary

Heroes of Hammerwatch 2players can now change their characters' names and appearances in the middle of a game, thanks to a recent update. The roguelite RPG already featured extensive customization, thanks to a variety of class skill trees, enchantable weapons, and its town-building feature, but character design was previously only an option at the start of the game.Heroes of Hammerwatch 2’s sixth patch in less than a month changes that.

The team at Crackshell has kept busy in the weeks since their latest game’s January 14 release.Heroes of Hammerwatch 2received two updates just days after launchand has since seen four more, with some coming out on back-to-back days. While many of these patches have focused on bug fixes, the latest one brings a convenient new feature for players who decide they want to change the way their character looks after starting the game.

Build 119, released on January 29, added a magic mirror to the Guild Hall that players can use to change their character’s appearance and name. Users must build the Guild Hallbefore unlockingHeroes of Hammerwatch 2’sblacksmithand other town content anyway, so the option will become available fairly early on in the game. The customization isn’t free, but it doesn’t cost much to use, either, so it likely won’t take much grinding to be able to take advantage of the new feature. The update brings two new hair colors and different jaw shapes to the character creator, which could make the magic mirror even more convenient for people in the middle of a playthrough.

In addition to the character customization option, the sixthHeroes of Hammerwatch 2patch brings a handful of quality-of-life improvements and bug fixes. Notably, Whirlwind and Flamespray attacks are now more consistent in their damage. Paladin was already one of thebest starting classes forHeroes of Hammerwatch 2players, so an improved Whirlwind will be a welcome change for anyone using a two-handed ax Paladin build. Some additional dungeon features will also now show up on the mini-map after players use them, which makes navigating the world a bit more approachable.
