Path of Exile 2’s endgame consists of a procedurally generated massive map that is infinitely expanding in every direction. Waystones are placed in map nodes to access the map and clear them of monsters, unlocking the connected nodes to explore beyond. Some map types, however, are different from the rest, following a different set of rules entirely.
Moment of Zen is a special atlas map type inPoE 2where instead of fighting hordes of monsters or battling fearsome pinnacle bosses, players instead visit an empty map containing only a single NPC. Here’s the breakdown.
How Does Moment of Zen Work in PoE 2
A Moment of Zen is a very small map containing a single NPC, the Nameless Seer. TheNameless Seer is a special vendorthat only appears inside the Moment of Zen and offersUnique itemsfor sale.
Players can choose to geta single Unique item from the Nameless Seer’s stock for free. All other items will be deleted. His inventory consists of random Uniques that are a part of the regular loot table. Most of these Uniques are not worth the hassle, but there are some incredibly powerful options likeAstramentis,Thief’s Torment, andHeadhunter. There is no way to influence which Uniques the Nameless Seer has; it is decided as soon as you enter the map for the first time, and it remains locked forever.
You cannot get boss-exclusiveUniques like Temporalisfrom a Moment of Zen.
Which Tier Waystone Should You Use For Moment of Zen
The only effect Waystones can have on the Moment of Zen maps is the item level of the Uniques in the vendor’s possession. So, a Tier 15 Waystone will have Item Level 79, anda Tier 16 Waystonewill have Item Level 80.
It is theoretically possible to get the Irradiated modifier on the Moment of Zen by using a Precursor Tablet on a nearby Tower, but we haven’t been able to achieve this effect. If it worked, it would be possible to get ilvl 81 Uniques from him.
Uniques are the only type of item inPoE 2that do not care about Item Level at all. An ilvl 74 Unique and an ilvl 81 Unique will have exactly the same stats and exactly the same modifiers, as their affixes are set in stone and do not have multiple tiers, unlike Rare items. This means you are free to use any random Waystone lying about inyour Stash tabsto trigger the Moment of Zen and not worry about the result. It’s all random.
Waystone modifiers, Precursor Tablet modifiers, and Atlas skill tree points do not have any effect on a Moment of Zen map.
