There are plenty of different monsters inMonster Hunter Wilds,making everyday play an adventure for all hunters. The game has tons for players to go after and will prompt a new quest for hunting monsters very often, so players will want to be ready.
However, there is a lot to learn about all of these different monsters in order to successfully hunt them. For this guide, we are going to track one monster calledUth Duna. Players will want to grab their weapons and some potions to get ready to defeat this monster inMonster Hunter Wilds.
Where is Uth Duna in Monster Hunter Wilds?
Uth Duna is considered one of the larger aquatic monsters and has some resemblance to a Leviathan. It also has various attacks and defenses that can easily knock the player out if they are not careful. With the body of a quadruped and a face that resembles a fish, the most notable features of this monster are the massive translucent fins found on its back, forelimbs, tail, and even its head. This monster, being similar to a Leviathan and having some features of fish, can be assumed to be found near, and even possibly spawn in, a large body of water. When you begin to explore different environments, it always becomes a challenge to defeat a monster that thrives in that new environment.
Uth Duna is only found within theScarlet Forest.This monster only appears during a massive downpour when the river and lake waters are much higher than normal. This means that, if the weather is overcast or even sunny, Uth Duna will not spawn in the Scarlet Forest. When the weather matches the conditions Uth Duna needs to spawn, the player can then use Scout Flies or Seikret’s ability to auto-travel to where the monster is currently located. However, two quests will help force the spawn of the Uth Duna. These quests areA Feast In The Deep (2-Star Assignment Quest) and Veiled By The Tide (2-Star Optional Quest).Without the weather being perfect, these are the only other ways to be able to find and have the Uth Duna spawn.
How To Defeat Uth Duna in Monster Hunter Wilds?
Just like other monsters, targeting specific limbs can improve the player’s damage output against monsters. When we discuss Uth Duna, we first need to discuss its armor protection. This defensive tactic will have large fin-shaped veils covering Uth Duna’s body. This protection protects the Uth Duna from all attacks by the player inMonster Hunter Wilds. While this armor is active, the player will need to try and attack Uth Duna’s front, focusing on the face and tail. Once enough damage has been dealt, the armor will fall away, allowing the other limbs to be attacked. The three main locations that the player should target to deal extra damage to Uth Duna are its head, its tail, and both of its forelegs. The player will need to keep in mind the various defensive tactics that this monster has. Here is a list of the attacks that Uth Duna will use against the player:
These attacks, if left undefended, will cause the player to faint and make the encounter that much harder. Some of these attacks do happen over and over, meaning that the player needs to know when to dodge or even back off a little bit and call for help if they decide they need it.
A few other notes about Uth Duna: it fights in the water, and water slows down ny hunter caught in it. This means that the Uth Duna is not the only enemy you’re facing in this fight; the water is your enemy as well. With the water being a huge disadvantage to the player, there are also many positives to fighting Uth Duna. One of the benefits is that Uth Duna is extremely sensitive to various conditions. Stun,Poison, and Sleep are just a few of the ailments that affect Uth Duna, which makes it easier to hunt than some other monsters that the player will encounter.
Another important note is that when battling the Uth Duna, there is a dam in the environment that can beused against the monster. To do this, the player must use their Slinger and hit a series of logs that will eventually break apart. Ensure that you hit the dam when Uth Duna is standing in front of it. Once the dam explodes, Uth Duna will take plenty of damage from this environmental attack (displayed in the video below).
If you’re having trouble taking down Uth Duna alone, it’s okay to alwaysutilize an S.O.S. flare to call for help.Another important factor is that the player’s armor and weapons might not fully be upgraded, and that alone could be a huge disadvantage for them.
