Although some campaigns may be peaceful, mostCivilization VIIplaythroughs are going to involve a certain degree of conflict. This could either come in the form of minor skirmishes with hostile independent powers orall-out wars with rival civilizations. Whichever the case, players will need to understand their options once the conflict ends.
When all of the fighting has died down,Civilization VIIplayers will have a chance to incorporate the enemy’s settlements into their empire or wipe them off the face of the Earth. The processes for doing so are slightly different, so knowing how to capture enemy towns and cities and disperse independent powers can be very important.
How to Capture Enemy Settlements in Civ 7
To capture an enemy town or city, players will first need to be at war with the civilization that it belongs to. Assuming they are, capturing the settlement will require them totake control of all of the fortified districts and then have a unit enter the town or city center. Upon doing so, they’ll be given the option to either raze or keep the settlement.
It’s important to note thatsome settlements may have multiple fortified districts surrounding the town or city center. In such cases, players will need to defeat all of the units within these fortified districts before they can take control of the settlement.
How to Disperse Independent Powers in Civ 7
In addition to rival civilizations, players will encounter numerous independent powers throughout the course of their playthrough. Unlike towns and cities belonging tootherCiv 7civilizations, they won’t be able to capture these settlements through conflict. They will be able to destroy them, though, by getting a unit into the center of the independent power’s territory and then selecting the “Disperse Independent Power” option from that unit’s list of potential actions.
How to Take Control of an Independent Power in Civ 7
Players may not be able to take over an independent power using force, but they can do so through diplomacy. The process for doing so is fairly simple, although will require a fair amount of Influence. First, players will need tobefriend the Independent Power, either by clicking on it directly or via the Leader menu. This will eventually lead to them becoming City-States, although it’s possible to go one step further. Using more Influence, players canincorporate a City-State, at which point, it becomes just like any other player-owned settlement.
