Hunts in the open world ofMonster Hunter Wildscan become very crowded with other monsters roaming about and so many other things to see and do. Whether you’replaying with your friendsor with other random hunters, you’ll need to properly coordinate your next moves and attacks.
While it may not work the same as other multiplayer games,Monster Hunter Wildsdoes have a ping system that allows you to mark locations or monsters on the minimap and on you and your party’s HUD. Here’s how to use the ping system inMonster Hunter Wilds.
How To Ping In Monster Hunter Wilds
The Ping system is actually tied to your Slinger, anduses the Paint Pod ammunition, giving an immersive way to ping for yourself and your allies. To do this, you’ll need to ensure you have the Paint Pod equipped in your item hotbar, which by default it already is. On the bottom right of the screen, select the Paint Pod as your active item and you’ll get the prompt to equip it into your Slinger.
If you have environmental ammo currentlyequipped in your Slinger, you’ll drop it to equip the Paint Pod.
Much like other crafted Slinger ammo, picking up environmental ammo will just put the Paint Pod back in your inventory. Once equipped on your Slinger, you can fire the Paint Pod at whatever you want, and an icon willappear on your own and everyone’s screenindicating where the pod hit. If ithits a monster, the icon will stay with the monster even after it is dead until you ping something else. You can only have one active marker at a time, so firing another one will delete any you’ve previously fired.
The Ping will also appear on the mini-map, though it won’t be an icon that can be highlighted or selected, so it won’t get in the way of you using the map as usual. If youleave the regionyou are currently in, the ping will disappear. While Pings are temporary, they do last for a very long time and will usually outlast any monster you are actively hunting. That being said there’s no way to delete a ping once it is placed outside of changing regions or waiting it out, but they are unobtrusive and shouldn’t cause any issues if left.
You’ll always have an infinite supply of paint pods so feel free to ping as much as you’d like.
