Summary

Side questsare a staple of RPGs, and yet a lot of games fail to engross players with whimsical side adventurers. SomeRPG exceptions don’t follow the typical fetch quest formula, andAvowedis now one such example. Most of the side quests have some greater meaning behind them and, if not, then at least the quest-giving NPCs will be interesting, or the rewards will be valuable.

Paradis is the big city players need to get into for the story to progress inAvowed, but they can explore the greater regions outside to tackle some truly mesmerizing and rewarding side quests before getting there. So, let’s get to the adventuring and dive intowhich early side quests are the most worthwhile inAvowed.

Playing a memory in Avowed

7Ancient Memory

From Text Adventure To Skeleton Battle

There is no official name for this side quest in the player’s Journal, but let’s refer to it asAncient Memory. If players head east of Paradis, they will arrive at some ruins in Watcher’s Mirror. At the end of a broken bridge, players can interact with this “Ancient Memory,” prompting a flashback with another Godlike.

No matter what players respond with, they will be rewarded with the Godlike ability Remembrance of Kishamal, which will increase their HP. The ruins will also reward players with a good axe inAvowed, Drawn in Winter, provided players go through a skeletal trial.

Dehengen in Avowed

6Cabin Fever

Rescue Dehengen’s Home

Cabin Feverwill most likely be the first side quest players pick up inAvowed. When players leave the tutorial area, they will arrive in Claviger’s Landing and automatically meet their first Companion, Kai. A little further up the road, across from the vendors, is an NPC named Dehengen.

She needs players to head north and clear her cabin of pests. Rather than spoiling the great twists of this side quest, let’s instead announce the reward, Vindictive Band. This ring can add poison to critical hits, and poisoned enemies will take damage over time.

Sargamis in Avowed

5Dawntreader

Beware The Robot God

Dawntreaderis a side quest packed with content inAvowed, and it’s one of the better stories found in the game’s early hours. Players can begin this side quest by talking to Secgwin and Kauia in Pilgrim’s Path. They will explain that some expedition soldiers got lost in the Temple of Eothas and, as the Envoy, they are more than welcome to check out the situation.

Inside the Temple, players will find one adventurer followed by the temple’s keeper, Sargamis. There are a few choices to make during this side quest and if players want a great early weapon, they should refuse Sargamis’ wishes. By killing him, they can loot his body for the fire-imbuedLast Light of Day sword, which is another good early weapon inAvowed. Once reported in Paradis, players can finish the side quest to get Delver’s Caution, which is a ring that can boost climbing speed and Dexterity.

Miteno in Avowed

4Lost Suoles

A Flock Of Seagulls

Lost Suolesis a simple side quest to complete in Shantytown, which is right next to Paradis. An NPC named Miteno is terrified of seagulls but needs to retrieve some medallions—“Suolenets”—from seagull nests nearby.

Players can go in his stead to gather four Suolenets, and the reward will be the Enchanted Suolenet. It’s an amulet accessory that will increasemoney gathered inAvowedby 20%. This does not count towards money earned for side quests or selling loot, but it’s a good bonus regardless.

Fighting Nacib in Avowed

3Nacib (Bounty)

A Spider Hole Filled With Loot

There’s sort of a catch-22 to bounty side quests inAvowed. Players need to enter Paradis to get to the bounty board, but they need to progress through the story first to get there. Thankfully, no matter if players accept a bounty or not, the targets will always be in their place, waiting to be hunted.

For example, players can still access the Ruinous Cavern on the west side of Paradis before entering the city. Inside,Avowedadventurers can fightNacib, a giant spider. There are a lot of good items to loot in this cave too, including the Steel Garrote Medallion amulet, the Steel Garrote Plate armor, and the Common Grimoire of Elements weapon, besides getting reward money for killing Nacib.

Captain Trevik in Avowed

2Precious Light

Pirate Vs Pirate

Precious Lightdoesn’t immediately have great rewards when players finish it. However, it’s a long quest, and along the way players can loot plenty of corpses and gain precious experience, which is harder to grind for inAvowedthan in other RPGs.

First, head across the lower east side of the map to meet Captain Trevik in Castol’s Folly. Agreeing to bring hisAdra cargo, a precious mineral inAvowed, to Sapiento de Falva in Paradis, will reward players who complete the quest with 300 Golden Scellings and The Fantastic Alembic amulet, which will add status curing effects to health potions. An optional part of this side quest will have players dealing with Captain Bardatto, which will most likely lead to a boss fight.

Fighting Tempestuous Luandi in Avowed

1Tempestuous Luandi (Bounty)

On The Beach

On their way to Castol’s Folly, players may as well stop by Ondra’s Reach along the coast to find another bounty.Tempestuous Luandiwill be waiting to ambush them with a crew of pirates. Completing the bounty is the best early-game reward inAvowed, because the body will be hiding the amazing Caeroc’s Pride pistol.

This weapon can shoot electrified bullets at enemies to shock them, and players can use it to activate switches in dungeons too. It’s a short side quest with an amazing reward and, again, it’s an easy stop on the way to a bigger adventure.
