Forhorrorfans, February 27th, 2026 can’t come soon enough as that’s whenScream 7is being released. It turns out that the returning cast members are just as thrilled at the chance to reprise their intelligent and entertaining roles in the slasher slasher sequel. That includesJasmin Savoy Brown, who isplaying horror movie-obsessed Mindy Meeks-Martin once again.
In an interview withDeadline, Browntalked aboutKevin Williamson’s work as the director ofScream 7along with her return to the franchise. She said:
“Working with Kevin has been a dream. I was so excited when I heard that he was directing and he has said on the record that Mindy is his favorite character.”
Brown continued:
“So, how could I resist? He is so delightful and so encouraging and such a positive, wonderful person and director. I think people are in for a treat.”
It’s fun for fans to hear thatMindy is Williamson’s favoriteScreamcharacter. Along with her twin brother Chad Meeks-Martin (Mason Gooding), Mindy isone of two remaining Core Four members who are still appearing in the franchise. As a fan of the horror genre who loves sharing her knowledge but who of course can’t believe she has found herself in a real-life slasher film, Mindy is as smart as she is fun to watch. Williamson has also shared his love for Randy Meeks (Jamie Kennedy), Mindy’s late uncle. The filmmaker expressed hisregret for killing off Randy inScream 2. While it’s sad that fans can’t see the kind-hearted and nerdy Randy again, at least they can enjoy seeing his family members. Although it’s not always easy for audiences to get on board with new characters in a beloved franchise, fans have embraced Mindy and Chad.
Besides reprising her role of Mindy inScream 7, Savoy Brown alsoplays the teenage Taissa Turner onthe dark and gory Showtime dramaYellowjackets. Some of her other noteworthy roles include Sabrina in the 2024 movieDreams in Nightmaresand Allison Adams on the legal dramaFor The People, which aired in 2018 and 2019.
After so many shifts behind the scenes, it’s nice to hear that Savoy Brown is happy to play Mindy again and that she enjoys working with Williamson. The director alsoshared that he’s having a great time filming the sequelin January 2025. Savoy Brown’s costar Gooding has also talked recently about appearing in the horror sequel, and he has teased some aspects of the movie, including sayingthere is a lot of gore inScream 7. Also earlier this year,Gooding praised Savoy Brownand said they enjoy a great professional relationship.
Savoy Brown joins other legacy cast memberssuch as Neve Campbell who is playing final girl Sidney Prescott, Courteney Cox who is back as Gale Weathers, along with Matthew Lillard and Scott Foley. With every interview that theScream 7cast gives, fans get even more excited to head to the theater andwatch the next part of Ghostface’s journey.
