Before Kiefer Sutherland embarked on his new career as a musician, he was most recognizable for his role as Jack Bauer in24.During an interview with Jo Whiley on Radio 2’s Piano Room, he was asked if fans at his gigs had called out for Jack Bauer, and whether their reaction to him had changed over the years:
It was always a lot less than I anticipated, which is one of the reasons I kept going. I was so deeply respectful of that and grateful for that. I think what has really been interesting in this journey for me is, if you’re honestly trying to do something and doing it with everything you’ve got, people will give you a chance. It might not even be their kind of music.
Sutherland’s music career is a million miles away from his role as Jack Bauer, but the two roles very much exist on their own merits. Fans of both his music and24will have mixed emotions when one has to take a backseat for a short time.In an ideal world, Jack Bauer and the music could take turns in Kiefer Sutherland’s future career. As Sutherland stated during his recent BBC appearance, ‘we’ll know soon’ what he has lined up next, and here’s hoping Jack is back in a feature-length race against time to save the world inthe upcoming24: Movie.
