There are mods for all kinds of purposes, from making the game easier, to improving performance, to adding new items and gameplay elements.
For many players, the draw ofKingdom Come Deliverance 2is the realism, and the immersion in everyday medieval life that this allows. In that case, those players might avoid mods, not wanting to ruin their immersion by adding unintended elements. Yet, there are already plenty of mods to cater to this kind of player too. From more realistic visual elements, to more immersive HUD and gameplay options, these arethe best modsfor added immersion inKingdom Come Deliverance 2.
5HUD & UI Mods
Less Clutter For More Immersion
One of the least immersive aspects ofKingdom Come Deliverance 2can be the UI elements, with certain ever-present visuals reminding players that they’re in a game. There are a few mods that aim to remedy this. No Letterbox removes the black bars that frame cutscenes in the game. Players who feel that this effect makes it seem like they’re watching a movie willbenefit from this mod.
Map Marker Resize can help remove clutter from the player’s map, and the two UI reworks listed are two alternative designs that both give players the option to minimize their UI elements for added immersion. Better Loading Screens doesn’t change much in-game, but it does give some nice variety to the screen transitions that vary between areas.
4Environment Mods
Landscapes and Vistas Enhanced
The environments inKingdom Come Deliverance 2already look pretty good, but there are a few ways that players canenhance their visual experience in-game. For players with high-end setups, the first mod for increasing immersion out in the wild should be Increased Draw Distance. This significantly increases draw distance for foliage and shadows, with a performance trade-off. The mod is a modifiable .cfg file, so players can adjust values themselves to get the ideal combination of draw distance and performance for them.
The Landscape & Materials Overhaul is an ongoing project to touch up and increase the fidelity of wilderness and environmental assets in the game. The mod already provides a lot of enhanced visual tweaks, with more to come. For more subtle effects, Vaxis' Blood mod makes blood more persistent in the environment, with improved textures. Brighter Torches increases the ambient light from torches, and pairs excellently with the mod creator’s Darker Nights Reshade.
3Gameplay Mods
Realistic Rebalancing
Due to the game’s recent release, there aren’t really any extensive gameplay overhauls forKingdom Come Deliverance 2yet. There are a few mods that tweak the gameplay to be more realistic, more challenging, or more immersive, though. Better Combat is an ongoing combat rework that makes opponents more reactive toincrease the challenge of duels. Scout Hardcore Mode takes this increased challenge concept further, re-adding aspects of the first game’s hardcore mode, removing the combat reticle among other immersive adjustments.
For players who feel that cutting to third-person when picking herbs takes away from their immersion, the First-Person Herb Picking mod removes the cutaway. Persistent Arrows does what it sounds like, makingarrows stay in the environment(and in characters) until removed. The Book Rework replaces all the game’s book visuals with custom fonts and textures, to make them easier for players to read, though it doesn’t affect Henry’s in-game reading.
2Textures & FX Mods
High Fidelity Detail
VFX and textures can be an important part of the visual experience in-game, and there are a few mods that focus on improving this visual immersion. There are a couple of forced effects inKingdom Come Deliverance 2that can actually take away from immersion. The bloom that happens when players transition from indoor to outdoor environments can be a bit too strong, and Disable Bloom removes it. The forced vignette that happens in certain gameplay sections and menus can be removed with mods too, as can the bloody red damage overlay.
The Enhanced Particles & Blood and the Vaxis Particle FX mods can improve volumetric effects like smoke, as well as enhance blood sprays in combat and more. Combining Checkers' HD Clothing mod with the Hood On mod simultaneously improves all the lower-resolution clothing textures in the game, and adds the option for Henry to wear hoods with his outfits, a bit more fitting than a helmetfor use with his civilian gear.
1Reshades & LUTs
A More Immersive Look
For players looking for the most immersive visual and lighting settings for their game, Reshades and LUTs can add a lot. Note that combining two Reshades or LUTs won’t work, as these mods adjust the same group of background settings to achieve their effects.
All themods forKingdom Come Deliverance 2listed here are aimed at improving the realism of the visuals, enhancing and sharpening the images and adjusting lighting, shadow, and other effects to achieve a different, more immersive look to the game’s overall visuals. Picking between any of these mods individually will come down to a player’s specific tastes, though Rabbit’s Realistic Kingdom is currently one of the most popular visual Reshade mods.
