The removal of Hextech Chests has seen public outcry from fans, with some more incensed players even calling for a boycott ofLeague of Legendsto protest the change. Now, Riot Games is walking back its previous stance on Hextech Chests.
As reported by ComicBook, a new Dev Update from Riot Games has revealed thatLeague of Legendswill be re-adding Hextech Chests to the game. Riot Games' Meddler and Pabro shared in the video that eight Hextech Chests will be added to the game’s battle pass with the launch of Act 2, replacing the two skins previously on the battle pass. Players will also be able to earn more Hextech Chests in the future throughLeague of Legends' honor system.The return of Hextech Chestsand Act 2 ofLeague of Legends' Season 15 will launch sometime next week.

Meddler and Pabro spoke more on the reasoning behind Riot Games' reversal of the removal of Hextech Chests within the video. Pabro cited the player consensus thatHextech Chests are an important partof “making time spent playingLeaguefeel more rewarding” for many players. Meddler also expanded upon the change to Chests being included with the battle pass, wanting to make Chests more accessible to a wider range of players. The video also confirmed that the contents of Hextech Chests will not be seeing any significant change, despite the new method of acquisition.
Within the short update video, Meddler and Pabro share several morechanges coming toLeague of Legendswith Act 2. Meddler confirmed that Riot will be drastically lowering the price of acquiring champions inLeague of Legends, cutting the Blue Essence cost in half with Act 2’s launch. Riot will also be returning to its monthly schedule for the popular “Clash” PvP tournaments, confirming the formats for March and April’s tournaments. The suite of changes toLeague of Legendslooks to both entice older players back and make the new player experience easier.
