Minecraftis undeniably one of the most successful games of all time. Originally unveiled in beta phase in 2009, the title quickly grew to be a massive hit, selling over 300 million copies over the years. In 2024, its developerMojang Studios even shared stats regardingMinecraft’s popularity. The numbers are pretty surprising, showcasing that during 2024, players broke 347 billion blocks in the game, crafted 1.3 million wolf armor pieces, died 39 million times in Hardcore Mode, and more.

Now, Mojang Studios has released update 1.21.60 for the Bedrock version ofMinecraft, which was already available for the Java version of the game last month. This is a huge update that makes some significant changes to the game, such as adding different pigs: the Warm Pig and the Cold Pig, which can only be found in a few environments. Other noteworthy changes include the addition of wildflowers, all Leaves blocks leaving falling leaf particles to make the game more immersive, changes in how Lodestones work, and multiple bug fixes, for example. To enable some of these features, such as new pigs and leaves falling out from Leaves blocks, gamers should enable Experimental features in the game, as they are still in development. Therecent Pale Garden biomealso received some tweaks, and farm animals can now spawn in the Badlands area after the patch. Apart from these new features and bug fixes, the update also added a few quality-of-life and accessibility features, such as the ability to use a Profanity Filter, which can make the game even more child-friendly.

Last year,Mojang committed to releasingMinecraftupdates more frequently, and this new update is an example of this new approach. Before, the studio used to release around one major content update during the year, but it seems that future releases will be more spaced out and vary in size, which will likely make the game feel fresh.

Hopefully, the changes made by the 1.21.60 update will makeMinecrafteven more fun to play. Whilenot all the recent changes pleasedMinecraftfanswhen the Snapshot update came out in January, as some gamers were displeased with how some aspects of character movement were tweaked, most of the changes seem to have been positively received by the community. It’s likely that future updates will continue to roll out in 2025, fine-tuning other aspects ofMinecraft.

These updates are being rolled out incrementally to all platforms except Nintendo Switch, so they might not be available right away.
