InMonster Hunter Wilds, you will need to take down a variety of monsters. Not only will many of the monsters be quest enemies that are required kills to finish the story, but you will also need to defeat several of them to get materials for all thearmor inMHW.
One of the early game monsters you will need to take down is theBalahara, which was the spiraly monster from the chase at the beginning of the story. In order to take this monster down, you will want to know all its weaknesses and moves.
Balahara Moveset
The Balahara, thankfully, has a fairly simple moveset. It doesn’t have much tracking in its attacks, so you just need to dodge where the attack is headed, then attack it back while you arelocked on inMHW. Here are the handful of moves you can expect from this massive monster while you hunt it.
Spit Attack
The Balahara either rears back and/or opens its mouth a little before it spits. To avoid it,roll or run around the spit; if its mouth is open, you don’t want to be in front of it. If Balahara is on the ledge, knock it down with a ranged weapon or Flash Pod after dodging. There are several levels of Spit attack, but you dodge each the same way.
Lunge Attack
When you are close to the Balahara, it can do a lunge attack with its mouth. It will open its mouth, then lunge forward. The best way toavoid this attack is to roll to the side. Since the Balahara’s weakness is the inside of its open mouth, this is a great time to dodge and smash it in the face with your weapons in thishighly customizable action RPG.
Drill Attack
A drill attack is when the Balahara spins at you with its whole body, cutting through the air and dealing a lot of damage. It will curl up, then will throw itself at you backward, tail first, to spin at you and try to knock you down. Its mouth drills into you, so make sure tododge to the left or rightinstead of forward or backward. Make sure yourMonster HunterPalicois ready to heal you in case you get hit with this one.
Roar
The Balahara can roar while you are attacking it, which doesn’t deal damage but can knock you out of your attack. Some skills and hunting horn buffs protect you from sonic attacks, but there isn’t a way to dodge this one. However, you probably won’t have any of these skills yet, so you just have to put up with its roar for now.
Tail or Claw Sweep
The Balahara will sweep its tail across the ground after lifting its tail, as shown in the picture. It hits a large area behind it, so you want to make sure to get in front of it. To avoid this move, you need to rollaway from it towards its head. It can also sweep its hand if you are in front of it, which can be easily dodged as its arms are super short. Just roll towards its tail to get away.
Tail Poke
If the Balahara is about to poke you with its tail when it picks up its tail. The wind-up is pretty long, so you should see this coming at you. You caneasily dodge, as this move doesn’t seem to have tracking for your movement. Just dodge towards its head and start whaling on it.
Sand Dive and Lunge
This move is a leap out of the sand that will knock you down. It will jump towards you, dive down into the sand, and then come out of the sand in about the same place. If you are close to it, it will lunge at you; if you are further from it, it will spit instead. you’re able to get it to come out of its dive early and stun it if you use aScreamer Pod.
Balahara Weaknesses and How to Fight
All monsters inMonster Hunter Wildshave weaknessesyou can exploit to help you take them down faster and easier. The Balahara is no different; you can use these weaknesses to take the monster down quickly and painlessly.
