After their first visit to the Village of the Whispering Winds,Monster Hunter Wildsplayers will be ready to leave the Windward Plains for the game’s second area. They’ll be instructed to head toward the forest, althoughplayers will still have the optionto survey the locale and locate a target before they depart.
It’s not a bad idea to explore the Windward Plains a little more and improve one’s equipment before leaving. However, when they are ready to move on, someMonster Hunter Wildsplayers may find that it’s not so easy to head toward the forest, as the game won’t automatically guide them there as it does with most other main story objectives.
Those hoping to head toward the forest will need togo to the most northerly point of the Windward Plains. There, they’ll find the Riverside Trail, which will take them to the Scarlet Forest and the next main story beat. To make life easier, players should open up their map and look for the red map marker at the Riverside Trail, then place a waypoint by pressing the R3/RS button while hovering the cursor over it.
Most of themain story missions inMonster Hunter Wildsare tracked on the player’s HUD automatically, but for whatever reason, players will not be guided toward the head toward the forest objective by default.
As mentioned above, it’s not a bad idea to spend a bit of time exploring the Windward Plains before leaving for the Scarlet Forest. There are several large monsters for players to hunt, including more Chatacabras and Quematrices, so those looking to craft a full set of armor before they head toward the forest can do so if they like. That said,more experiencedMonster Hunterplayersshould have no trouble surviving in the Scarlet Forest even with the most basic of equipment, so forging and upgrading equipment is by no means a requirement here.
