Monster Hunter Wilds Quematrice Attack Patterns
As with most hunts, positioning is key to defeating the Quematrice inMonster Hunter Wilds. Despite being such an early-game encounter, the monster has a decent set of attacks that you’ll have to look out for. On top of that, it can also inflict theFireblight Status Ailment, which causes your health to deplete over time.
If you get afflicted with Fireblight, use Nulberry to get rid of it. You can also dodge quickly or go into water to remove Fireblight.
Quick Pecks
The Quematrice raises its head and performs a series of up to four consecutive pecks. It’s easy to dodge sideways to get on the monster’s side during this attack and get a few hits in. You can also parry or guard the attackfor a Power Clash.
Bite Attack
The monster roars and rushes forward with its head down, trying to bite the Hunter. Dodge sideways to avoid getting hit.
Tail Sweep
The Quematrice has a tail sweep attack that knocks the Hunter back if you get hit. It can be easily avoided by dodging backwards.
Fireblight Tail Sweep
During tail sweep attacks, the Quematrice can also ignite the ground. When using the Fireblight Tail Sweep attack, the monster lowers its head slightly. It’s best to back away from it since the burning area will continue to damage you if you stand on it.
Beak Sweep
The Quemetrice sidesteps quickly, attacking with its beak in a wide sweep.
Tail Slam
The Quematrice slams its tail down on the ground. This attack has a heavy knockback, but you can counter it if you time yourparry with the Switch Axe.
Fireblight Rush
The Quematrice rushes forward and attacks with a Fireblight tailsweep in front. It can deal a lot of damage, so it’s best to dodge to the side to avoid it.

The Quematrice can bean aggressive monster to faceearly on, but it has a lot of weaknesses that players can exploit. Its two main weak points are thehead/neck and its tail.It’s better to avoid focusing on the torso region, as it has the lowest damage modifier.
